I have just discovered this thread and I would like to describe my opinion.
Salary formula is well known for very long time. There is no need for changing it. The behaviour of managers should accomodate to it. I did it as soon as I knew how it works.
Sudden change of formula would be the worse what could happen. Because it would overthrow effect of strategies that managers used for many seasons with well-known conditions. It would bring suddenly advantage for some managers and disadvantage for the others.
What to do with present player with about 500k salaries? Just not bid them and let their managers bancrupt and players will left the game. I expect free agent with no bid will retire. I'm not sure about free agents on NT roster without bid, what would happen after the transfer deadline?
Why so few managers train outside skills for bigmen? I think it's very usefull (at least some of outside skills) and not so difficult if they start train one on one for SF/PF before IS is too high for another skillups by this training.

1-If I remember well,NT players can't be fired and can't retire till they are in the Nt roster,so they would go again on transfer list and again until they not go out of the Nt roster
2-There are some very important outside skills for big man that you can't train if you not put your player out of position(mainly OD and JR),and also if you want to train them,you have to start from a decent base in these skills becaue it would be useless to lose so much time training in OD an atrocious outside defender

ad 1) I'm not sure about what would happen in this case as NT players are listed just when his team became a bot. On which rule they will place again at TL if they are not sold?
ad 2) it's very useless to start training of bigman with atrocious OD, it's not problem to find 18 years old bigman with at least mediocre OD and other outside skills which you consider as important, especially these which are trained very slow especially for tall players. (In my eyes JR is for C the last outside skill to train, for PF is quite usefull.)

2)The difference between Cs and PFs is in the presence and in the strenght of the main outside skills,Jr became much more important as the level of Js and Jr rise...but however you have to put a nig man in guard position to train these skills,so it's impossible to do a traditional big man training while train these skills.The best strategy would be to start training a big man in oustide skills some season before the time you are programming to switch training

I'm not sure, maybe this situation is not solved yet (or charles can tell us). I think it has not happened yet because there is always someone who bids the player because he didn't mention the salary or believe in quick profit by selling him for higher price.

I decided to test it later in this season (as soon as our NT is out from Consolation Tournament). Both situation - I will call some very bad players from boting teams and will hope nobody bid him, some of them will still be on NT roster at time of deadline while some others will not as I will dismiss them from roster after listing.

IMO salaries for big men should be allowed to reach 50k salary as the current skill and every additional pop above 50k should count for far less than the pop before 50k. That would solve it .. hypothetically, a current 200k C/PF would have a salary of 120k under my proposed system and a 50k would still get a 50 k salary.

Is there a reason that the on-court best players should be on the best teams?

The more real to life a sim is the more I enjoy it.

The majority of people I try to recruit to BB choose not to play because of its separation from reality, (not real life players, real life teams, etc) and these are people that like to play fantasy leagues to real sports.

The biggest issues for people that are new to BB, from my experience, is other features of the game that are separated from reality. Some of the more fantasy based features of the game improve gameplay (fewer, shorter injuries), others don't, such as the best on-court players bouncing around the TL and bankrupting team.

Somethings most of us live with because we're already hooked. For me, this not a big issue, but it's not ideal and I live with it because of all the other great aspects of the game.
