That's a cynical way to look at things. I assume that all of us want change for the betterment of the game, and my suggestion is a way to allow that change to occur carefully, not hastily.

I've never said that I'm against change. Not sure how you're conjuring that one, personally.

There was once an American football MMORPG called Goal Line Blitz. It had inherent flaws, but it was still reasonably fun - until managers started complaining about the game every time something went wrong for their team. This allowed them to blame their troubles on the game, instead of taking responsibility and working to succeed within the current game. Admins listened to too many of these complaints and changed the game rapidly, causing new problems every season, and the game is now a ghost town, where even the most dedicated managers only play because they bought too many "flex points" and don't want to waste their money.

I love BB because it's avoided going down this path. However, I've been troubled by some of what I've heard around the BB forums. The salary floor, for example, was implemented as a response to complaints about tanking teams - a noble cause, surely - but it ignored the plight of teams promoting into leagues they can't compete in anyways. The 2-3 zone is said by many managers to be "broken," even though there has been little to no use of the defense with forwards with OD and a center with SB. If 2-3 is changed because of the complaints of managers who are just upset they lost games when they tried playing it with a 4 OD PF, that might be it for me.

Changes should not be reactionary. I think the BBs generally do a great job of this, but seeing that this offseason contained quite a few changes, I think it would be wise to halt any non-cosmetic changes for a calendar year. The strategy of over-tinkering with the game engine, financial system, etc. will only result in another GLB, a dying hulk of something once great, but destroyed from within.

Giving free pops in skills is a cosmetic change or a marketing one.

Damn, you had reason ¡¡¡

Too early to tell if the new change will kill the game. To me it seems like this is something that everyone can adjust to easily.

Check the Suggestions they are important

Haha, and I do agree that the change was implemented too hastily and without nearly enough warning.

I just think that should be put aside when we debate the actual merits of the change. For example, I think the salary floor is generally a good idea, I just think the BBs did a terrible job in implementing it into the game.

A whole season is too hastily?

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

ooo nice thread. Gotta love it how defensive people get on here! Just a game peoples!!!!!

I actually agree in principle with OP in that, yes, the game should not make changes on reactionary basis. I too have seen other online games die, simply because the people in the best leagues complained so much. So the developers modified the game to suit the top leagues players. New people stopped joining, lower leagues stopped paying subscription fee's and the game died. :( Im NOT saying that this happens here though, so relax Div I peeps!

Ive only been playing BB for 5 seasons now. err.. 4? 5? ... a few.... and my personal experiences with the game has shown me, in my opinion, that they BB team do a great job in NOT making hasty reactionary changes and so I dont believe that the game is in danger of problems encountered by other online games. So compliments to them. But im in agreance. No hasty changes. Analyse the problem. Work out the best solution.... Make the change. Might not make everyone happy, but you cant always please everyone. And its always about balance.
Using the 2-3 zone situation as an example because that seems to be flavour of this thread.....Im in division III. and played division IV for a couple of seasons. Its not uncommon for teams in these division to use 2-3 zone.
Why? Because we are new. we are learning the game. Part of the FUN of this game, is to try new things, discover, learn, work out the why and how of the defensive structure's/offensive structures, play 2-3 against that team, play m-m against this other team etc etc. Discovering, failing, trying, are all part of the game, all part of learning the game, all part of the FUN.

Does that stop me from losing? well.... nope ive been burnt a couple of times using it for sure. but thats part of the GAME. Its part of the fun. Its almost essential to have parts of the game which are actually flawed, such that the discovery part of the game isnt lost. Because learning that 2-3 zone doesnt work against team XY, is part of the FUN....(frustrating-fun?)..

So its about balance. - Make changes to satisfy and retain existing memberships and higher divisions teams... but do so without alienating the lower-league users. If its no fun being in Div IV, then people wont join/hang around.
Using that as a representitive topic, as long as BB doesnt change aspects of the game which, although might be flawed for some people, are actually part of the FUN - discovering that they are flawed situations for their team......for whatever division..... then this game should be ok. :)

12 months freeze is too long IMO. - Financially, I think people would be less likely to pay for supporter if they had to wait 12 months for changes. As mentioned, I think BB do a great job as is. and people who compliment them openly in the forums should get free supporter for a year.
