My failed experiment:

http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/38851590/boxscore.aspx

Of course the defense tactic was set all wrong, the other team was stronger overall, but the patient offense didn't help, AT ALL!

my 122$ kk PG took most of the shots

PG N. Shuowei 2 - 31 0 - 16

And I can assure you he has very high JS and JR and had proficient game shape.

So yeah, overall use Patient only when you are extremely desperate or extremely sure you would win the match.

Your team is nowhere as good as his. His defense was 3 full levels above your offense. Additionally, your offensive flow is your weak spot -- not good for an offense that requires a lot of passing. Overall, it's amazing you scored 50 points!

You recommend using Patient "when you are extremely desperate". I'd say this match up falls into that category.

in this case the tacitc isn't really helpful, i believe a good oppurtunity for using it, is when you have one (outside/shooting) player who is (much) better then his opposition.

As you see in your example, mostly the outside player with the best chanches in one on one get the must chanches, but when he cann't beat his opposition like that it would be better to get easier looks through set play.

I am not sure how important passing is with this tactic, but in the end you have in nearly all cases, an outside thread dominating the patient offense.

I don't think patient should only be played if someone is extremely desperate or extremely sure to win! It's also good for close games, if the opponent has like 2-4 star players and the rest is crap, but you need offensive flow to bring the ball to the right players.

To your game (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/38851590/boxscore.aspx). Your PF had the best match-up and the ball went to him for 18 shots (50% of the shots went in), thats not enough. Your offensive flow was way to low compared to his outside defense rating to bring the ball to your PF more often to take a good shot. Your PG is actually a SG and has probably not very much passing compared to your opponents outside defense. So when he got the ball he wasnt able to find the PF and took the shot himself. His shooting and driving skills were to low to harm the opponents defense by taking the shot himself. Compared to real life your PG got trapped and couldnt escape the trap by passing nor by driving. The only opporunity was to take a horrible shot.

I think, the game would have been much closer if you played with a real PG with high passing.

Best regards,

sgt

heres my game.. every one. i gave this team it only lost of the yr in my league so paitent worked. i did stamina training before this game along with game shape the week before that. I wanted to see if it would work and paitent works like a charm all need is 2 high shooting players at sf and sg and very good passing pg. although his best player got 20 reb 22 pt. I think my pf did well in holding him to that lol.. and put a double doulbe of his own.

My sg really went to work on them. i knew his team would not stop my sg or sf( becuase my sf was the league leading scorer last yr lol).It was pick your poision type of thing lol.. But i do recommend playing this and it will work for you vs a strong team but you need very good shooter anf a very good pf or at least one that can battle the best player of the other team..

I also recommend doing some stamina and game shape training leading up to this game becuase you will need it, trust me.

I've played Patient 3 times in competitive league games. My main players shot 8-31, 5-25 and 10-32 respectively. My team's overall FG% did not exceed 35%.
If your opponent is strong defensively with better OF, Patient is a terrible offense to choose.

I have some questions regarding using your PG on the C position in Patient. Please only anwser me if you actually have experience with using Patient this way.

How effective is the 3-2 zone work against Patient with PG on C?

Does your C/PF playing on the PG position has to have high passing if you want this tactic to work?

Regards,

Cveto
