I love the amazing rivalry that has developed between Eugene and Arizona Cacti!

You always seem to be in each others way! Good luck to both in the Cup Championship!!

. . . the amazing rivalry that has developed between Eugene and Arizona Cacti!

You always seem to be in each others way!

a few details to deepen the story: over close to 25 games, we have basically played each other to a draw. when our paths first crossed, the Cacti were an outside team that my boys simply could not handle. that frustrating period lasted several seasons. i improved my OD, and it was my turn to win a streak of games over a couple of seasons. some three or four seasons ago, the Cacti evolved into the powerhouse they are today, and i haven't been able to handle them. our game this season my indicate a change, but i think it really only proves my bench is a few points stronger than his bench (at my home).

i think it is kinda neat the scheduling gods let us meet in the finals for the Cup. certainly it makes for an exciting Thursday, on a neutral court, no less. and heaven knows we both could use the reward for winning. too bad it's winner take all! but this is one game that neither coach is going to punt, so it should be a good game.

now to get back to scouting . . .

(baloon)

As more of a glass half empty kind of guy, I was really hoping the Warriors would lose that matchup. :D

Yep, it's pretty cool to be a part of something like this, especially against a manager that has already established himself as one of the greatest in NBBA history. Eugene's resume so far:

#6 in titles (currently tied but all by himself if he wins any this season).
#4 in NBBA wins and about half a season away from passing Lake Merritt.
Will break a tie at #6 in overall trophies (after including either the silver or gold for this year's Cup).

A few years ago, he said in a thread that you either had to try to win games and stick for a long time or win titles, i.e. you can't be dominant without setting up a stacked, unsustainable roster, like the Upsyndrome team of a few seasons ago. Eugene, clearly disproving his own theory, has managed to find a way to do both. Well done, sir!

(But I'm still going to beat you on Thursday!) :)

I agree with u but upsyndrome accomplished something that no one else has done either (winning a triplet of dual cups consectively). I am pretty sure if he wanted to stay somewhat competitive in nbba after those 3 seasons instead of purposely tanked, he could.

While we're trading ERG stats, I just realized that the Bananahorns are 0-8 all-time versus ERG, dating back to season 19. Not a huge sample size, but I'm guessing that's my worst record against any other manager in Buzzerbeater.

Another interesting ERG stat is that coach Hassan Donnelly has stepped on a Banana peel 8 times and yet never slipped and fell!

Significantly better than a similar stat involving Sideshow Bob and rakes.
