Looking back at my start of season report;
Rimmers: I didn't expect this season to be an easy one for whitewind, but I didn't expect the team to be below .500 and in the relegation spots right now. I know how whitewind might be feeling, as I went through a similar ordeal last season, but I still think Rimmers will make the play-offs at the end, though a lack of HCA may cost them the title.
Hard Ball Gets: MP5 brought in a high salary big and a good point guard in time for opening night and has since challenged for the #1 seed yet again this season. Five losses, but only one game off the conference lead.
Kinky Koalas: I underestimated the Koalas in the pre-season, as they have put themselves in play-off contention despite having a four and a half year old head coach, and also juggling cup commitments as Balev looks to defend the Battlers Tournament.
Whitebeard: They were a bit of a sleeper team at the start of the season, but Whitebeard is certainly not sleeping any-more, as they hold the provisional #1 seed in the Great 8 conference, albeit still two games off the league lead.
Kobe Resurgents: Caused a stir with a dominant opening victory over YSD, but fell away afterwards. Four straight wins in the league have helped them rebound to 3rd, and they're still in the cup, but an injury to Hoyos last night may end their chances in both competitions.
High School Drop-Outs: The late addition of Anda has helped them a lot, as they've been able to stay out of the conference bottom 3 despite an ill-fated cup run that ended at the hands of C-Webs, who used to manage this team I manage now.
Aussie Pride: Gave up an inexcusable WO to ACT Blaze early on but has since recovered to 2nd in the Big 8. Will be hoping that the WO doesn't come back to bite them PD wise as the battle for both the play-off spots and for 5th is close this season.
Guanzheng Goldfish: Abigfishy has brought in Endara and Dieckhoff to try and save them from relegation, but even with these new acquisitions the Goldfish ship is on the verge of getting sunk on a 3-10 record.
You Should've Dunked: Being two games clear of any other team in the league is a big change from their 5th place last season, but didn't come from out of the blue when you consider how much OTT had to pay for this roster, and that their losses last season were close, some of which could've gone the other way.
North Carlton Cavaliers: A victim of one of the most closely contested mid-tables in ABBL history. Currently 6th, but can still make the play-offs as 4th is only one win ahead. Lack of PD may be a problem however in this battle for a top 5 spot.
Lewisham Wombats: I underestimated the supporting cast of this team in my pre-season report, particularly Malinverni. They're about where I predicted on the league table, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them lift the Battlers Tournament this season.
Koopasaurus: Surprised me early on by having the best record in the league nine rounds in, but an unfortunate injury to Kirshenbaum ended that run and led to three straight losses, leaving them 2nd in the conference at the break.
ACT Blaze: A very good first season for a team who some may have criticised as having made the ABBL by fluke. Whether or not they avoid relegation however is uncertain.
Foenix Suns: SN 13's squad has been in a state of flux all season and this may attribute to them being 3-10 right now. Lack of depth remains a concern, but recent acquisitions Bardon and Farsch can help them limp into a relegation play-off.
Yarra Park Bears: Pete's buy-up is surely too little too late, but will set them up nicely to bounce back if he can afford the salaries next season.
WA IS A DUMP: I expected them to be dangerous this season and the only reason their league record is a modest 7-6 right now is due to Bryce chasing the Battlers Tournament as well, a trophy that they have a good chance of winning.
