I'll add a bit here. I know it's very frustrating to see obvious cheaters actively buying and selling players. I was outbid on a player not too long ago by a team that was using dirty money.

Our cheating detection tools are very good. Having said that, they need to be better. The BBs are working on this problem in addition to the other 1.3 million problems they are dealing with.

Even with the best tools, however, us GMs and BBs can't combat the cheaters by ourselves. We need these reports that you are all filing. Personally, between real life duties, running my team, and GM duties, I just don't have a lot of time to spend on the TL searching for cheaters (and good deals!). If you see a suspicious transfer, report it. It may take us some time, but we'll get to it. Thank you all for your help!

I think everything would be easier with a sensible way to get an average player exchange price.

If you can infer a statistically meaningful price for a player out of the TL history, cheating would be a lot more difficult to hide.

Unfortunately I have been thinking about the problems myself (as a day trade tool) and it's non-trivial. I'd still give it a go once we have some public API.

The problem boils down to a creating a sensible ranking function for players...

There are so many variables (i.e. skills) for each player that having a meaningful Transfer Compare is pretty much impossible.

NO ONE at this table ordered a rum & Coke

Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

i disagree about the meaningful price........with playoff deadlines.. influx of new managers - some weeks lots of Free Agents the next week very few.... if your team has just had a decent weeks revenue and you have an injury - prices can fluctuate...

getting around to dealing with cheats it is fine and i appreciate the commitments that are needed all over the game..

it would be nice to see the players in question that have been bought with the dodgy money re-entering the TL - this would convince me the matter has been dealt with.... i dont think everyone should be banned but severe deduction in cash (if they still have any) and at least a season transfer embargo should be the minimum with the player bought returned to the roster....

out of interest how long from filing a cheat report at the moment does it take to investigate?

this should be prety instantly, if they have not enough GMs to be able to react imediatly, they should assign more GMs.
I feel that cheaters are a bigger treath to the game than bugs and features... they should get top priority.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

outbid a gm with dirty money, ;)

i got an idea with that statistic maybe you dont need it to do with skills, just an statistik
like top5 weekly transferstat for centers/pg/sf/pf/sf that would be nice not just for cheating issues also to get a little overview for prices (top-players) at the moment, which would be very interesting to see.

Unless i am wrong, you can only create accounts in your own country. So players tha are cheating are actually saling low wage players to the same teams from their own country for extraordinary prices.I think the only punishment should be instant deletion.I realize tha the game needs to build up its users database but i strongly believe that cheaters have no place in this game. They can only harm it.

The players on teams that are banned for cheating are put on the TL once that team goes inactive. It doesn't happen right away just in case a mistake was made and the team wasn't actually cheating.

ok... is banning the only punishment ie. they are guilty or they are not? is it as clear cut as this or is a heavy fine also an option?

(just cant imagine banning someone who has paid for supporter)

Each case is different. Some are very simple: Team A sold player X with a salary of $1k to team B for $2,000,000. Others are not so clear cut. These cases require a little detective work.

Right now it isn't the number of GMs that is the problem, but rather the efficiency of the tools we have at hand. The BBs are working as fast as they can to update these tools. The influx of users over the past few months has put a strain on almost every aspect of the game. It may take a bit of time to return everything to normal.

Banning is not the only option. However, in a case of deliberate cheating, a ban is almost certain. We certainly can't discriminate against someone with Supporter either. Each user agrees to the same set of rules when he/she signs up. It would not be fair to ban a non-supporter and then fine a supporter for the same crime.
