Don't listen to these guys. So far the input has been from a sub-par team in V, with little experience in IV. And an Australian player, who is not familiar with how USA IVs play.

At the very top level of IV(meaning you are a playoff team) your SG could run you from 800k to 2 million if you are an outside based team. My SG has 12 JS and cost me about 1.3 million.

If you are an inside focus team, your SG could be from 400k to 1 million. He just needs to be a roleplayer with good OD and handling and passing and possibly rebounding. A little jump range doesn't hurt too, because you won't be getting many threes.

If you are balanced, than your SG could be from 600k to 1.5 million. He needs to be a good defender of course, and have a little JS as well, but not as much as you'd need if you are outside focused, instead he could have extra skills in handling and passing and possibly driving.

I think it depends on how you expect your Outside Shooting rating to be. If you expect it to be at least mediocre level in a game, i'd suggest you get a shooting guard with at least prominent JS and at least respectable JR. Outside defence shuld be no less than strong too. Passing and Handling shuld not be below average. Player like that shuld cost you less than 1 million bux.

Amarestars I was just giving him a specific example from my half of a season spent in league IV and my experiences with a player who played in that league. I don't really think its necessary to discredit my opinion just because I picked up a team late in the year and got relegated. You're telling this guy to buy a 1 million dollar player when the highest salaried player on his team is $6,000. Yes it sounds good but not all newer teams have that money, I can speak from experiences, and its unfair to say he has to spend at least 800 k to get a competing SG. If he has that type of money then thats awesome.

and I have a friend on Buzzerbeater who got a guy with 14 JS for $396,000 of the TL and I think thats good enough to compete at league IV.

I think it really depends how good of a player you're looking for and how good you are on the TL...there is no way you should spend more than $175,000 for a Div. IV really good player you aren't trying to train...I got my SG for 130,000 and he is old but he has strong JS which is what I was looking for. Obviously the more you spend the better player you get.

It all depends on his league but I agree with some of the other posters: the level of player you described above would probably be at best a back-up or mediocre starter in D.IV. At least that is the impression I get from my own league and closely following a couple friends' teams.

If you are looking for somebody who can be a 'star' in D.IV I would probably agree that if you are spending your money smartly, you're still looking in the 800k-1.5mil range. That includes the fact that this would be an older player with no real training potential.

I completely agree with that, the only thing I was taking into consideration was that the team that we're looking at has his highest players making $6,000/yr. If he were going to spend 1 million dollars he'd be looking at a SG making almost double what is highest player is being paid now, which is fine if thats what he is looking to do.

My net salary is a little over 100k a week. I have about 400k saved, and might might get 100k off the TL. All I want is to have somebody on my team be able to score well. My current SGs average 8 and 10 pts a game and shoot under 30%. I have a C that ekes out 15 pts and 15 rebs a game in league play, and that is my shining star. I need a guard to take pressure off my centers by shooting at least 50% FG and and least 40% from deep. I can rely on other guys to rebound, pass, etc., but I do not as of yet have a shooter, and I want one with a passion. There is a guy in my league that is 10/17 in just 45 minutes of game time!

Yeah I agree I'm not saying it's the smartest move for his team, just that if he's wondering about the prices of guards for D.IV, my personal estimate is:

starter: ~300k
good starter: ~500k
star: ~800k+

How he should spend his money is a different question though.
