There were boos from the crowd after the pick. Knicks fans really know how to make rookies feel welcome. :)

Bitterness on draft night is what we do best

(Though in our defense, was Shumpert even there? I didn't even think he'd be a high second round pick.)

If the Lakers trade Gasol it's gonna be a great loss for them. Even though he didn't do much in the playoffs he is a great player and a great PF, I don't think it's gonna happen.

What do you think about Boston's picks? I've never heard of the JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore dynamic duo from Purdue, but maybe someone can shine some light on this:)

the chanche for the Love Gasol trade is over, and even when i think that Gasol is slightly better then love it would be a good Deal for the Lakers because of the age even without the number 2 draft pick.

Johnson is ok, a solid pick for some minutes but no future star in my eyes.

So tell me, if Minnesota gave LA all their Love, would they get all their hugs 'n' kisses too?

But agreed. I like Gasol better as a player, but Love's sooooo much younger!

AL had some nice deals in the rumors for them if they make both of them, they would have got:

Williams(number 2 pick), love and Howard

for Bynum, Odom and Gasol

With would be a hack of deal :)

I'm not sure about his contract, but doesn't Love become a free agent after next season?

Yes indeed. He makes a sliver over 3.7 mil this coming season (assuming said season occurs!). It's highly unlikely that he'll be a Wolf beyond that.

Nice ZZ Top reference there :D

back to topic: Love is great offensively, and he's younger than Gasol. That said, he's also a liability on defense. Still, I think he'll fit easily into the triangle offense. Oh, wait...

Phew. Glad someone got it! And I agree that he's a liability on D. I also think that at worst, it's a wash on the offensive side of things. As it stands now - Gasol's the better player. Just Love's younger.

i believe the talks about the "old Lakers" are a bit extreme. sure they would like to get younger as their bench is also a bit old [blake, barnes, odom are 30+]. but we are talking about a team that went so many years deep in the playoffs and that is not something you can avoid. after this season's rest, they could easily play with more energy this year.

they are not 35 years old. Kobe is 33, Pau is 31 next week, Odom 32 in november. I mean come on, remember the Celtics !?!? KG was 32, Pierce 31 and Allen 33 when they won their championship. and two years later were back in the finals , lost it at 7.

And succinctly put. Basically, over the past 3 seasons (prior to the one just gone), LA have played pretty much an EXTRA season.
