OK season 21 draft stats

First off in summary - what a shite draft.
Number of players in the draft with that potential.

announcer 1
benchwarmer 14
role player 6
6th man 9
starter 3
star 7
allstar 4
perennial allstar 1
MVP 3

That equats to 3 players with 5 ball potential, 5 with 4 ball potential, 10 with 3 ball, 15 with 2 ball and 15 with 1 ball. Either way, 30 players were useless as trainees. But seriously, 14 benchwarmers? unbelievable.

I graphed salaries, and in general, as the pick number goes up, the salary goes down, which suggests that some people were actually picking according to star rating. Peak salary was $4783 BUT the next highest salary was nearly $1300 less than the top..... 25 draftee's had a salary UNDER $2000. whilst another 15 had a salary between $2k and $3k which means 40 players in the draft had a salary under $3k, which is just staggering.
In ther first round, 11 teams got their first pick, 4 teams got their second pick whilst Tannum tantrums got their 3rd pick. Proving again, that all you need to do, is find 3-4 players worth drafting, and you will get him. Even in the second round, the lowest preference was 7th.

Who did well out of the draft? without taking into account spending, then Vios, myself, Coalcliff, Hopelessly addicted, Geelong and Corio all managed to get something that should at least fetch them some dough on the market. Coalcliff getting the steal of the draft, with a 19 year old MVP 6'1 SF with a $4700 salary, at pick 21...Good job, although the fact u drafted a 19 year old $3k 6th man in the first round, suggests that u jagged this :)

Hahahah yeh he jagged it!!!
proving once again that it's just as effective to spend and do nothing for the draft as it is to be as fastidious in planning for it as you are.
either way you're like to get a good or bad suprise!!!

I'm still quite pleased with my pickup

Hard to believe that there are so many potential tankers, expecially given the increased salary floor and the nature of the last draft

It's kinda sad people don't want to compete with what they have. I thought that was the whole idea of the game...

Yeah it does suck, but it seems to be the nature of the game these days.
I hate the idea of tanking. HOWEVER, it's a part of the game and I've never really done it.

I don't have a team left if I hadn't sold Gab Wall and Davila, that's $220k in 2 players and I couldn't afford them
So now I've sold some pieces and have roughly... $4mil in the bank and expect to earn $150k - $200k a week this season.
If I somehow get lucky and someone goes bot and I can steal 7th, then I might just do that and try to survive relegation.
but as it stands I need to rebuild from the ground up.

I hope when I promote back to Div II it's to the hardest conference of the hardest league.
But until then it's time to train some new blood.

Well I'm not tanking...not carrying the same salary as last season, as I was bleeding money, BUT I still hope to compete at least for a playoff berth!!! Of course it is a bit easier on my side of the division.

I do understand the financial benefits of tanking but I just can't bring myself to do it, and to be honest if it got to that stage I would probably let my team go bot and start a new team from scratch...

No plans to tank for me, haven't deliberately tanked ever, did drop from div 2 before due to focus on training but always tried to compete. Trying a new tactic this season with 2 stars to lead the team on the court.

these are my draft picks just as bad as what I got last season. giving them all a game today before I fire some of them.

Are u giving them a game because u feel bad for firing them?
