Hey... that's a pretty good idea ;) What time are Englands games?

Also, a question I've never asked before, does the BB clock adjust to your time zone or did I just get lucky to be in the central time zone?

Working with the community is my number one priority. I plan on making a website strictly for English buzzerbeater users to share tactics and to expand the English community. Of course I would communicate with other users during they're games to get then enthusiastic about the national team. Morwood, you being the U21 coach, you are crucial to the senior teams success. Especially with the amount of young potential this team has. You would be my #1 contact, we would have to be in touch if I were elected. Why do you think USA doesn't win world championships? Because not enough of the community cares about the national team. Thank you for the question Morwood.

Bell, given your lower experience in BB and at NT level, and almost no interaction with the English community prior to your speech. Can you tell me why I should vote for you in preference to the existing coach who is standing again?

Where has the existing coach gotten you? I call success competing with top teams in the world. I plan on building a squad for seasons to come with the help of our U21 coach and the entire community. I'm offering to unite this community and really involving managers in the national team because that is what I believe creates a successful squad. As for my experience as I've said I played from season 11-15 and won 2 championships and I've played seasons 19- present and have won 1 championship. I understand tactics very well and many managers do not understand how and when to rest players I assure you I know how and as manager I am not afraid to ask major teams in the community for they're opinions on tactics. Thanks again for the questions. I'm glad the English community cares who they're manager is.

He's actually done all you say you are going to do.

He lead the U21s, rebuilt the player base, united much of the community and we like him a lot. He's had two seasons as NT coach to work with the players he developed, and is still developing. Most of us are going to give him a chance to continue in this job and improve the results, he's earned it. You are the Bobcats in this election - a MASSIVE underdog.

I actually said to Eminence (about Season 15), if your ambition is to be England NT coach, be an assistant first and stick around the community adding value for a while before you make a run.

I offer you the same advice. Offer to be an assistant, add value for a while, consider making your case as U21 coach, prove you can develop players - then ask us whether we want you as our coach.

A question for all the candidates. When is a 2-3 zone an effective defense?

Not often. But after running some tests with Revo and Belgium over the offseason I believe it could be effective in a situation where we know the opposing team is going inside and is using guards/forwards who cannot shoot. As shown in our scrimmages the 2-3 will force the shots to the outside spots(PF will also take some if he has reasonable JS). However players will hit their outside shots at a much higher rate than normal. Note Hongs 12-23 3-3 from deep game where he scored 27 while Sharpling went 10-14 for 25 points, you just won't see those numbers against a man to man.

However the 2-3 won't turn a nonshooter into a sharpshooter all of the sudden; Palit going 8-23 in our three games against the zone.

It seemed to me that LP did a better job of distributing shots to the PG/SG/SF and even PF against the zone, while a LI led to the PG/SG shooting almost exclusively.

In fact I think I'll just put all the shooting data for guards here(against the 2-3 of Belgium, using LP twice and LI once):
Palit 8-23 1-6
Sharpling 11-17 1-4
Hongs 17-34 5-8
Gascoigne 27-47 6-12

So basically anyone who could shoot at all shot over 50% from the field, and Hongs/Gascoigne(!) lit it up from deep(I'll attribute Sharplings 1-4 to not being a very big sample size).

So in sum to be effective they'd have to have some really really bad shooters at the PG/SG spots. I also think I'd only be comfortable using it against the LI.Outside players(which many of these LI dominate teams have) with IS also seemed to dominate in the LP games, with Gascoigne scoring almost at will.

I would happily take an assistant coaching spot here in England if Eminence is re-elected. I offer that to Eminence if would take me in as an assistant. I can learn a lot more, but I believe I can take this team much further than it is now if you elect me to be the manager. Also to answer the question a 2-3 defense is an inside focus and rebounding defense. It's good to use if you have a big man center. Also if the opposition runs an inside focus offense.

some minor notes while i'm passing by:

*) This thread is to debate. not to say who you'll vote for. please keep that in mind.
*) i like the fact that their is a debate going on here, and for once, it seems a constructive one too! so gratz on that paOrt.
*) concerning the tests:

First off, thx Eminence for waiting with the updating of your squad and keeping your enthusiasm up so that we could preform the tests. i've learned a pretty large amount of things ( some still remain unclear, but many questions were answered with those scrimmages)

I saw a comment about the likely changes that are awaiting us to lower LI domination:
i'd like to point out that the USA champ beat all his opponents who were playing inside with: Motion! So if you got the right players, you could win outside. However, you'd be taking a major gamble at the NT lvl by trying to put together a inside and outside orientated team. you need extremely multiskilled players for that, and just like many nations, Englands lacks in that departement bigtime ( but considering how you've been catching up, i'm pretty sure that you'r catching up there). The draw is a harsh one, but just be on the look out. One week of bad GS for one of your opposing NT teams, could change the entire outcome! Poland is at real top team, but Italy has had a hard time qualifying for the World Cup. they used to be great because of the many farmteams they had, allowing players to be trained much futher than normally because they'd destory your economy. Thus, my advise: (and that is for the whole community) check the Italian NT roster every 2 day's. that way you are sure not to miss any of their players if they hit the TL ==> if you know the skills, you know their weaknesses and could potentially exploit them once you face them. It just makes your goal to reach the next round hard, not impossible ;) NT teams have caught up with the sub top nations, so in most groups, a team could end 2nd but could as easely end 6th! GS and Enthusiasm management will decide the outcome in most cases.

Futhermore, untill Marin releases more info about how the change to SB will influence the GE, it's hard to forsee anything. As Eminence pointed out correctly, England has a young squad and should be able to addapt pretty fast, providing the managers of teh NT players will be willing to train the skills needed for them to gain an advantage. But as it stands now, nobody knows how those changes will influence the game. Theirfor, it's hard to forsee how to react. If you have to ask the manager of a NT player to train SB on his guard, i doubt he'll be willing to accept that request ( just giving an example here). So don't ask questions none of the candidates can answer ;) cause at the moment, you can only speculate about the changes...

Now for all the candidates to answer:
*) with changes announced, would you prefer to experiment with some upcomming talents ( players who are close to the NT, but not NT players yet) to anticipate potential changes to the GE ( who would at the earliest hit us at the allstar break) and thus hope to gain an advantage over the other NTs? By doing this, you could very well ask a manager to train a wrong skill and thus he wouldn't be closer to making the NT (you could even ruin a plaer like this if salary goes up due to unwanted side ups) Or would you prefer to play it safe, and attempt to addapt once we know more about the changes ( but that means older players, slower training and maybe the managers can't accomodate your wishes on such a short notice). I'm interested to see the answer to this question. should be an interesting one :D

Oh man Revo, this is a toughie >< And I think my general answer right now would be that I won't advise anything too risky for managers. I'll try to stick to the tried and true skills that we know are important and will continue to be important, PA/OD/RB and so on. Before we see the updates effects on the shooting skills and SB. So the only managers I'd currently advise to really train any of SB/JS/IS/JR maybe even DR/HA are guys who don't have much left to work on.

I could see maybe a fringe prospect deciding to take a risk and train SB, but it'd be just that a risk and I'd make that very clear that not only might he not wind up being useful to the NT he could wind up being not very helpful to your own team as well. Which is something I try very hard to do, I try to advise managers in training directions that will help their own team even if their player may not achieve NT status.
