Loss vs Japan U21: 99-108
I came into the game with no expectations, and seeing the Japanese putting in more effort in the game made me accept the fact that we would qualify in fourth place (India U21 beat South Korea U21 tonight, but I realized that due to their forfeit match, they wouldn't qualify even if they beat Philippines U21 with a big enough margin to go above us on point difference). But the game engine just had to be cruel and torture me.

To be fair, they could have just boosted the Japan U21 team and made our players underperform all round. But no, they had to pick a scapegoat, and a ridiculous one that is. Goh Kwang Jia, who is our best scorer in his best form, actually goes 22% from the field, missing even his wide open shots.

In the end, Sng Hao Heng had to take the reigns on offense and switch his mindset to be a score first guard to log 27 points, including 5 of 7 from 3. Jimmy Elbert was active on the boards, pulling down 18 rebounds. Meanwhile Kum Fu Keong showed his defensive prowessness from the bench as he picked up 6 stocks.

We have one last game to go, against China U21, whom will also play us in the next round (let's hope it's our opening game for the next stage, haha). Next round predictions will likely be Saudi Arabia U21, Vietnam U21/Australia U21 (depending on who wins their matchup), Thailand U21, and Kazakhstan U21. Let's hope for a favourable draw!

This was a sure lose game so I was only interested in how well our players could perform. Sadly Sng Hao Heng had to leave the game early so he couldn't pad his assist stats. It wasn't really going good for him either, only managing to dish out 3 assists in 26 minutes.

Kum Fu Keong probably had the best game, although the offense didn't flow through him. He scored 17 points shooting 56% from the field and constantly made it to the free throw line. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Jimmy Elbert picked up a 13 point 10 rebound double-double.

With the standings finalized, we will be playing against:
Saudi Arabia U21
Macau U21
China U21
Kazakhstan U21
Thailand U21

Let's hope the fixtures favour us in the next round!

Two games in a row against China U21 is a little crazy as our boys got trashed again. Jimmy Elbert and Hu Chaoting managed to have a decent game tho, as both players finished the game with double doubles. Hu Chaoting had an impressive 28 points and 11 rebounds on and equally impressive 40/60/90 shooting splits (12 of 13 from FT). He constantly applied pressure on offense and was by far the best player on the team. Jimmy Elbert put up 17 points and 14 rebounds, but he only shot 29% from the field. The rest of the team were very much worse off on offense with our boys hitting a collective 25% from the field and 16% from 3.

Our next match will be against Macau U21, who suddenly became heavyweights thanks to the emergence of two 40k salary star players. Let's hope for a good performance from our boys!

Yea. Quality difference is too big. Now I'm waiting for my Utopia team to mature. Hopefully we can churn out top quality players then. But sadly progress is so slow T_T

Win vs Macau U21: 116-98
Game has been over for some time but I still can't believe what I just saw. Things looked good as Pang Ka Long torched them throughout the first. 63% from the field and 57% from the arc. He basically scored half as much points as Macau U21 did in the half. But our hopes seemed to go down with him as he was brought down while trying to lay it in.

Our lead started to slip after that. But thankfully Sim Chuan Dong made them pay as he hit three in a row from downtown, before Jimmy Elbert added another one to restore the 18 point lead, and the rest was history.

Twin towers Jimmy Elbert and Hu Chaoting once again picked up double doubles, with Jimmy having 13 points and 13 rebounds while Hu had 19 points and 16 rebounds. Both of them were very active on the boards, picking up a total of 10 offensive rebounds. Sng Hao Heng had to shift gears between facilitator and scorer as he managed 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. After being floor general in the early part of the campaign, he seems to have shifted his mindset to be a more of a scorer. Thankfully we had Kwa Ming to pick up the playmaking duties today, as he put up 10 assists.

Our next game will be against Thailand U21. It will be another uphill task as they have four players earning 20k salary. Let's hope our boys are able to stand up to the challenge.

What a roller coaster ride. We were cruising comfortably in the first half and a blowout seemed inevitable. Then we blew our 20 point lead in the 4th. Thankfully, our boys came in clutch in the last 3 minutes to seal the win comfortably. If not I would have kicked myself for gambling on the GDP.

I never expected much going into this game, especially when their players had great game shape. Fortunately the whistle finally favoured me this time, and our boys hit an amazing 22 of 25 free throws. Hu Chaoting was our best player of the night, shooting 53% from the field and perfect from both outside and the charity stripe. His final stats were 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Kwa Ming also performed well tonight, with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Our next game would be against Saudi Arabia U21, who came in 2nd in Pool C. It's going to be another uphill battle, let's hope our boys continue to perform well!

Win vs Saudi Arabia U21: 106-80
Here we are folks! One foot in the semi finals, one hand on our first bronze trophy since season 36. 32 seasons, 5 managers (although to be fair one of them is Big Ben, who won us 2 trophies, including a silver trophy), and we are finally close to winning some silverware. The only way we won't win it is if we lose by 22 points to Kazakhstan, or Saudi Arabia erases their 57 point deficit against us if we lose by a smaller margin.

The thought process when going into the game was whether or not we should conserve enthusiasm. Saudi Arabia U21 was one of our biggest challengers for the semi finals. Would they see us as a threat? Turns out, they didn't. Do I regret not matching their effort? Well kinda. I initially thought it was fine, since we were leading by 40 points at the start of the fourth. But garbage time happened (we were on a 23-9 run). Had the game ended there and then, we'd have a larger point cushion. But the Saudis fought back and cut the lead by almost 20 points. Judging by this game, we honestly could have won easily without needing extra effort. Well, screw you garbage time (in case you don't know, I've been a huge critic of garbage time over the years. Seems stupid that a game which uses PD as tie breakers actually implements garbage time).

6 players hit double figures tonight, and 3 of them were our subs. Thong Chong Lai was our best scorer tonight with 21 points, shooting 53% from the field and hitting 3 of 4 shots from downtown. He also put up 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. If you think that's impressive, Kum Fu Keong also wowed the crowd with 19 points and 5 rebounds. But the most impressive part is his efficiency - he shot 80% from the field, including all 3 of his three point attempts. Jimmy Elbert and Seah Yew Shi might have missed out on a lot of action out at front, but they still managed to stamp their authority at the post, pulling down 17 and 13 rebounds respectively. Jimmy even blocked 2 shots.

We'll be facing Kazakhstan U21 next. One last game to go with the semifinals on the line. I'm pretty thankful that the pressure is off us. Even then, I don't think we should relax as I'm pretty sure they will be using Crunch Time against us.
