I just think that if you want a level playing field for everyone you are playing the wrong game. Randomness is great. Injuries are relevant, Cup Draw, the varying transfer market and so on. Also you could just have massive nuts and play TIE all the time like i have done before. Might cost you a deep cup run but it might not. In HT you basically knew there was a 2 week window in which you would get knocked out of the Cup based on your league.

In BB it's awesome that as a ABBL team i was knocked out 1st rd one year because i risked a TIE on an away court.

Either way there is no right or wrong here as we are discussing opinions. That said the Cup being done randomly was one of the biggest attractions of BB when C-Cat was telling me about it to get me over from HT and it still is one of my favourite parts of the game now 14 seasons later so i'd hate to see it changed.

The only thing with the cup i dont like is being a reasonable team and getting knocked out in the early rounds when there are still hundreds of bots beating each other.
I would like it if it was somewhat "seeded" until all the bots were out then random it up.
bots can't use the $50k, I can....

/end whiney bleet. :P

Why wouldn't you want a level playing field for everyone? That way the game is a test of our skill as a manager, not who happened to 'get lucky' with their cup draw.

I'm all for randomness in the game, but it has to be in the right areas i.e. injuries, form, etc.

As a manager, we have absolutely no way of influencing the cup draw or doing anything about it if we get unlucky early in the cup. At least with other 'random' things (injuries, form, etc) we can do something about them, using our skills as a manager. A random cup draw, by it's very nature, will always put other teams at a disadvantage through absolutely no doing of their own.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those whingers in Global on HT that complains about 'too much random'. I have no problem with the random elements that exist in the game, as they are necessary for the game to be enjoyable. However, when the random event (cup draw) arbitrarily disadvantages some teams and provides an advantage to other teams, without giving us any means of influencing it, then I think it begins to have a negative impact on the game.

It has been fairly frustrating seeing in each of the last two seasons a team make the top four that has basically had a free ride and made it there with at most one competitive game on the way while others (not me by the way) seem to have challenging opponent after challenging opponent costing them multiple league wins.

But I think a seeded tournament has even bigger problems meaning that teams like BLS and WB will get a free run for weeks making the rich richer. Seems like a bad idea.

The same teams (i.e. ABBL teams) make it to the final stages under the current system anyway, so I doubt a change to a seeded draw will have any influence on 'the rich getting richer'. At least under a seeded system, on average teams in the same league will make around about the same income from the cup (obviously give or take a game or two). Under the current random draw, teams can also get a financial advantage from getting an easy cup run, compared to their league opponent that gets knocked out in round 1.

The ability to play an extra TIE each week is pretty much the most important thing about still being in the cup. At the moment, this is assigned to teams completely at random.

Two ABBL teams out this season already. If they were playing bots it would be 0.

And they are at a significant disadvantage now compared to their league opponents that get a bunch of easy wins vs bots to start off their season with.

It's not just ABBL though, it goes for all leagues in all divisions. Teams are advantaged/disadvantaged purely due to getting lucky with the cup draw.

I think we all have control over our cup runs.....if you get knocked out early on, then you should have been a better manager and had a better team. :P

i have no issues with being knocked out in the first round, i just have an issue with Bots still being in the 2nd round in my place.

So basically you want a hand out to be able to play TIE each week. Why not tank a league game and play TIE there and normal the cup if you are so keen to stay in it (as i have done this week)

I would like it if it was somewhat "seeded" until all the bots were out then random it up.

I understand this point an it does make sense. Though one of the guys i work with did lose to a bot once which was amusing.

Maybe they can do it so that all bots play active users in rd one and go from there. There are 525 users in Australia so in Rd one of the cup there should be 1024 teams which means on a few would play "real" teams and the rest would play bots. After that it's random
