Pilipinas U21 (4-1) beats India (2-3) 104-91

Chi Delco (38955957) did it all, tallying 21 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 6 steals and 4 blocks. Carl Elbert Durano (38155281) added 19 points and 7 rebounds while Ace Julio Madrigal (38155771) scored 17 points despite fouling out after 21 minutes. Despite the win, a late three point barrage by Indian PG Suresh closed the margin to enable Taiwan to take over the Philippines by 1 PD. On the other hand, Macau’s CT vs Australia’s TIE sealed the home team’s fate, limiting their victory to 13 points. Without a team managing an upset this round, we are scheduled to play China in the playoffs next week, while Taiwan will take on Singapore.

China ends Pilipinas campaign with a 103-73 victory (39815)

China used a balanced offense to overcome 42 points from Atoy Co Mente (38155016). Mente started out slow, scoring 6 points in the first quarter and 14 by half time. He picked up his pace in the third quarter, but received little help as the game went out of hand. The big men of China on the other hand had their way as they scored 47 points and out-rebounded their competition.

After this loss, Pilipinas will compete in the second chance qualifiers at the start of the next season. We will be grouped with 4 other teams and placing first in that group will qualify us for the world championship.

Taiwan defeats Singapore 105-74 in the other semi-final match. This means the Asian championship will be played between Taiwan and China, although both teams now qualify for the world championship.
