How to justify cross training.

Coach, has off the cuff remarks to the trainer, "Hey, when you get a min, player XYZ, his rebounding is killing us. Do you think you can throw some of this in while training Passing? Maybe only a couple of minutes worth."

Or even, Trainer says to coach, "You know, Player XYZ, could really shine if he had some ______ training. If you'll let me give him a few minutes every week. He'll still get 90% of the training you ask for, but the last 10% could really make him a stud."

I've played and coached basketball. It was not unusual at all to see the team training something, and having a coach work with another individual during a practice.

That said cross training is a pleasant addition to Buzzer Beater.

Charles said: the changes were announced and we should have been prepared.
Free throws give a passing up. Really? How could this be prepared? Those people who have made unique players spending much time and loosing games will definitely suffer now. The price of such players will go down. Ridicolous. The users with young trainees will get more advantage while the users having older trainees or capped players will not get much extra-pops.

Well, maybe I'm totally wrong. But...

Let's think of a player called Chauncey Kidd who has 15 passing and all the other outside skills quite high, like 16 OD and 14 JS. His salary is around 120k. Chauncey's manager, Phil, has decided not to train passing anymore, since he intends to sell the player at the beginning of the next season and he doesn't want Chauncey''s salary to go much higher than 120k. Phil considers Chauncey's training complete. So Phil decides to switch training to centers. But next week cross training is implemented. Phil gets anxious about that, and decides to train FT to avoid any major surprises. Friday morning, Phil logs in and his beloved Chauncey Kidd has popped on passing!! Now Chauncey has 16 passing, and his salary will skyrocket!! Phil's chest aches, he doesn't feel his left arm anymore, when he is about to faint he hears a voice coming from nowhere:

- Phil, come on! You are such an experienced player, wake up!

Then Phil calms down and realises that in fact there is no reason to worry about that pop. If Chauncey's passing popped, it was due to some residual ramdom training he received via cross training, and his passing sublevel should be around 15,98 or something, and now is around 16,03. Well, Chauncey's salary will raise just a bit!! And instead of selling next season a PG with 120k salary and 15 passing he will be able to sell a PG with 122k salary and 16 passing!! He will be able to sell the player for some hundreds of thousands more than he expected. Great news after all!!

For example if you train stamina on your center and he pops in IS to 14, the skill doesn't go from 13 to 14, but from 13,8 to 14,0 or something like that. This difference of 0,2 isn't having a major impact on salary so that argument is pretty ridiculous.

And 0.20 is very optimistic by using the 10% figure.

I'm mostly just tired of the BBs constantly pushing us to make well-rounded players. It's becoming ridiculous at this point. We don't have to be told how to play a game.

Now it's gotten so absurd that they would punish all players, even the ones that were making well rounded players to begin with, just so they can handicap the guys who make huge salary monsters.

Nice.

Here's why I hate this argument. High-salary mono-monsters aren't realistic irl. Even the worst shooter will make one every once in a while, and even the worst passer will get the occasional assist. Even Yinka Dare ended up with a few.

Also, once again irl, players may work on one skill more than others as they practice, but they still practice all their skills, in drills, scrimmages, and games. BB is simulating this. Do you really think a center who plays the position every night but doesn't "train" shot blocking won't be able to improve his shot blocking attributes?

If BBs are pushing to make the game, and its players, more realistic, I applaud their efforts. I don't think this change was implemented carefully enough, but the jury's out on whether it makes BB better or not.

And next step is training the players separate no?

Because it's quite unrealistic that you train only some players and others don't

If you want something realistic you go and play NBA 2k11, not BB ;)

Well yes, you're choosing a group of players to get more specialized attention from the coaches. You can do team training, but then everyone gets smaller effects.

Why can't BB be realistic? Aside from the player faces of course.

If you want something your way, then why don't you create a game that can fulfill all of your wishes in a basketball game?
