Also just for fun let's say the TE has been estimated for this player at $2,000-$10,000. So currently I have bid to the 'estimated' TE on him, whiich is fine. But at the last second another owner comes and places a bid on Joe Schmoe for $11,000. Placing that bid just added 3 min to the clock. So this other owner and myself go back and forth for another several bids and 30 more minutes. The final bid ends up being $30,000.

I don't see your point. Guys who are worth $10,000 are in abundance. If he's really worth $10,000 you can probably find another dozen guys just like him within a 24 hour period. Why not just accept that you didn't get him and move on?

So the player is won above market value.

No, he is not above market value. The very fact that there was a bid war suggests that you did pay market value. He went above the transfer price estimate but that's not the same thing.

should stop when it says it's supposed to stop.

I'm not sure what this will accomplish, except possibly reducing the prices players are sold for?

So u want to overpay ALL the time instead of possibly getting a decent deal on players? Cool, Knock yourself out with that! But some of the rest of us might not want to grossly overpay for our players. Especially the guys that are just starting out trying to build a team w limited funds. Your concept might be ok for a mid-high tier team, but the lower tier teams don't have $$$ pouring out the doors of our area and we are looking for the best deals possible.

NO ONE said anything about cheating...at all.

Then I don't see what the problem is. Market value is typically where the bidding stops. It can typically change over time, and is most definitely a range of values, rather than a specific cut-off.

The transfer compare provides information about the approximate sales of similar players. It's designed to prevent newbies from spending too much on a player when they're not quite sure how much a player is worth -- not to be a surgical-precision tool of assessing a player's market value.

the transfer price estimate is just a estimate, sometimes it is to high sometimes to low ... The real value come from the market and the worth of the player will come through bids of player who also estimate the value of them(maybe through searching player like him and known their prices etc.).

That you bid with other players should happen without a longer deadline too, maybe with the ebay system if someone say he is worth to be me 40k and another says 29k and in the end he cost 30k). So it won't change that players selled over tpe, but normally that not bad when more teams are intrested in ti. But if you list a player for a very high price, or he get a single very high bid, the price isn't exstimated through the market and the gm will look if the buyer is an friend or someone who likes to give you money, or put in a zero to much etc.

I never said that I want to overpay. I want to pay fair market value. You want to rip people off by getting guys for under market value. It seems to me that's what you're saying.

But some of the rest of us might not want to grossly overpay for our players. Especially the guys that are just starting out trying to build a team w limited funds. So what you're really looking for is a system where new users can get their players for cheaper than what us "old" users pay for them? You don't want to earn your way to the top like everyone else?

Finally, the transfer system used by BB is not my concept - the first time I saw it was in Hattrick but I'm sure it has been around for longer than that.

ray461 I can see that you are new to this game so just get used to it, because changing bidding system would be nonsense. I think this system is perfect at the moment.

The actual bidding system is good, but improvable. Maybe letting bid only to the managers who made a previous bid on time or something like this, because sometimes you are bidding against other manager and a third manager, who didn´t make a bid before trade deadline, starts bidding.

Then that would be not equal to everyone, every manager should have the right to buy and sell any player at any time. I can't see any problem with this bid system. And also I don't think that accurate value in the market can be calculated like many of you require.

What i defend it´s that every manager has the option to bid for a player, but on time; after trade deadline, only the managers who made a previous bid.
About market value i think it´s ok, if you pay x$ for a player, this player´s price is what you have paid for him. No problem with this.
Best regards

This definitely is not changing to an eBay-style system, where the last lucky user to bid gets the player, it will never work that way.

Well I don't think that could fix that, I mean e.g. if I bid 1k for the player, other manager bids 2k and so on so there'll be lots of managers who can fight after the deadline, same with the fixed price at the beginning of the bid e.g. 200k or else.
