It's not that easy.

There needs to be days off from games so that certain processes can run.

Scrimmages is an important part of the game.
* It´s an excellent way to see how different tactics work.
* Players can play out of their position to practice other skills then usual. (example: passing for centers that play PG in scrimmages)
* Adjusting gameshape for players

And scrimmages only come AFTER the national cup, as told before.

If you have a small roster, you need to decide if its worth playing in the cup/scrimmages to get the income/training/experience that the cup brings or if you should rest your expensive starplayers on thursdays.
But buying a few 'worthless' players to cover the blank spots in the scrimmages/cup-games to get extra training is probably worth it.

I agree that it should somehow be awarding to have a deep good roster, and I think it does. The higher you advance, the stronger the opponents. You can´t just simply play your best 5 players in all three important games each week.
Having too weak back-ups will get you more losses and shorter cup-runs, making you loose money which ofcourse you know, is crucial ;-)

Thats my opinion, if you don´t like it, I have others

my only problem with scrimmages is i always fear my opponent gives me a walkover when i want a player to play 48 minutes

by the way, do walkovers in scrimmages count in determining the league standings or only league walkovers count?

It´d be interesting if "Last scrimmage played" had importance at Fan Survey.
Then, everyone should play not only for minutes but for increasing fans satisfaction, and we won´t see walkovers anymore.

What do you benefit of from w/o in a scrimmage? Aren't your training spoiled if you leave a w/o?

I don´t know, i suppose that if there is a manager selling players before the scrimmage and he can´t afford it with the players´ minimun demanded then he makes a w/o harming to the other manager. This is what we should avoid.
What i feel it´s that scrimmages don´t count a lot and they should. If we give them more importance as all of we are proposing then the game will be more exciting for all.

The experimenting with tactics argument is absolute nonsense. IF your players are good enough or important enough to you they wouldve already had their minutes by the time your scrimmage comes about.

The need/convenience of a scrimmage is necessary after exiting cups... if you want to experiment why and keep depthe why not use Thursdays for a behind doors internal game between the players on your own roster?

If you havent got enough for 2 teams then you have to look externally for a match.

1) Advantage here is you get more training minutes / more risk of injury but this is a trade off for the extra depth your squad carries and money you invest.

2) You stick to normal scrimmages and simply have the same risks/training as now.
