Of course you can get a great one. But I would say, you invest some money in 1 player and you take other 2 not that good. You will end up selling them in the following seasons and train your best player.

The advise to get a normal player for C is because it is easier to make some money at medium level players that in a player you invest 600000, as you are not experienced and you can be paying far above its real price.

I'll have to back up my fellow Finnish GM. Since the outside skills are harder to train for a tall guy it's beneficial to have some of them to be modest. I wouldn't want to start with C who has all the main skills very low but there can be a bargain if he has them set up like respectable-average-mediocre. Then you shouldn't worry about those "extras" and you could first concentrate to improve them all to respectable-strong -levels in one season easily. After that it's up to team's needs that what kind of a center the team needs. Obviously I wouldn't buy a C under 6'11'' because otherwise those main skills would be harder to train.
