My only comment after further reflection is that far too much advantage is given to teams that field less-than-5 player teams in league and/or cup matches. The simple fact is that if you elect to do this (or forget to set your defaults properly) then your fifth player should be Atrocious in all stats, and you should get a penalty - especially in the second half - for lack of rest.

For an incomplete squad to be able to take full advantage of all bonuses (CT, enthusiasm, HCA, etc) without suffering negatives, and for an incomplete squad to be able to get a 'lucky fan' with any skill whatsoever, degrades the quality of this game engine

I think, as with a lot of (discussions/arguments) threads here, both sides are correct.

You are right, maybe the game engine should penalize more heavily for something as realistic as playing with a substandard team.

However, the other guys are also correct in that, the game engine is as the game engine is. We all play under the same engine and therefore, irreverent of how any of us feel or think it should be different, it is what it is, and we need to learn how to take advantage of it's strengths and weaknesses (they may not be humanly realistic)

You clearly did not use the most effective strategy (within the perimeters of this game engine) to beat your opponent on this occasion, lesson learned (I have learned a million of them in my short time here).

The fact that you have turned to the forums to get an understanding of the situation is a great sign for the future of your team. Continue to learn the perimeters of the game engine and how to exploit them in your favor and you will climb very fast.

Just think of the game engine as your limitations (what you know works) as well as the variables (what you haven't learned yet) and not like most people who think it should be just adjusted and tweaked all the time because they can't learn to make the most of what they do have. That;s the beauty of the game, five minutes to play, almost forever to master. Best sort of game really!

Coach: Team, listen, today we're gonna fight against a bunch of four dudes who barely could do anything against us if we attack the post and basket close up. But you know what?

Team: What?

Coach: We're gonna win with style! Yeah, baby! We gonna hit the only thing they cover, which is rated higher than our outside offense! Cause our outside offense is FARRRRR stronger than our inside game!

Team: It's only abit---

Coach: Shaddap!

Team: But coach, we can easily destroy this team if we follow common sense, don't tell us to play Run and Gun please! They have the players who can stop us there, and they will use Run and Gun as well, but our OD is pretty bad...

Coach: Shaddap! Shaddap! Play RnG and hit where there are defenders!! Not get free easy baskets!

Later in the day....

Coach: This is outrageous! We played against four people, where is the realism!!!!!

Team: You asked us to do what we did, coach.......

When I opened that match report I lol'd so hard.
You played RnG against a team that has NO bigs and put up atrocious IS and pitiful ID while also putting up prominent OD against your outside offense and you wonder why you lost. Isn't it obvious?

Chalk it up to lack of scouting, -2 enthusiasm, moronic tactics, or low IQ. Either way you deserved to lose. Accept this and try not to do anything this foolish in the future.

Mock all you want. He had TIE'd all season - and even admitted after the fact that he had meant to TIE this game as well. Why would I expect anything more than that? Y'all can throw insults at me all you want, but the simple fact is that a game engine that actively rewards people who put less than a starting five into a game is a broken engine. If anything people who do that should be automatically penalized.

I'm not sure how you think the engine "rewarded" him for not playing a center - your C scored a career high 37 despite running an outside offense, plus pulled down a game high 7 offensive boards and a game high 18 total rebounds. I'm not sure why you can't comprehend that you were running an outside offense where his team OD was higher than your outside scoring, and he ran an outside attack where his outside scoring was higher than your team OD. The engine didn't reward him for not fielding a center; you rewarded him by not attacking the gaping hole down low.

I am not sure if you could call the majority of responses to your question mocking.

What almost all are saying is; maybe there is a flaw in being able to set 4 players in a game (although 5 will actually hit the court with 1 Lucky Fan), you played an offense and defense where you had a man for man coverage on both ends and technically you had one big guy running around waving his hand crying out for the ball. By the look of it the only way your big guy got involved was to take a rebound and put it back.

Most have accepted your point of view and offered an educated helpful response. It is your inability to take on board the help/concepts suggested that is the frustrating part of this thread.

Have you ever heard that crazy people don't think they are going crazy, they actually think they are getting more sane than everyone else??

Well, i checked your game report once again and saw that Lucky Fan was quite nice defensive player they had, although he couldnt basket freethrows

FG 1-5
3FG 0-2
FT 0-8
OR 5
TR 8
AST 0
TO 0
STL 2
BLK 1
PF 3
PTS 2

Scoring so many OR makes him a good defensive and this game has teached me that never, never underestimate a lucky fan. Nothing is perfect, you can never be sure, when it comes to game engine. Plus you went TIE.
