I think they should move to Stockholm and change the name to the Syndromes since pulling for them now is already a form of that malady.

I will take it you are a Giants man. If so luet me remind you everyone of your supporters over the age of 40 owes UNC a debt of gratitude for unleashing upon the world the awesome power that was LT singlehandedly turning around that franchise. Now I hate the Cowboys much as any other Foreskins fan but back in the day it was the G-men who bought on feelings of dread. LT was a damn force of nature, Sims was annoyingly effective especially on 3rd down, and the Tuna was the one man who could consistently out scheme Joe Gibbs.

Good guess, but I'm not really a Giants fan, and back in those old days the Cowboys were my "other" favorite team. Tony Dorsett, Danny White, Randy White, Ed Jones, Tony Hill, Everson Walls, Victor Scott, Jim Jeffcoat, Drew Pearson... They had some darn good players to watch. .

I grew up a huge Cowboys fan...we didn't get the Arizona Cardinals until I was 16 years old...and it took about 15 years for me to fully embrace AZ as my favorite team. I always cheered for AZ (except when they played Dallas) but it was tough for me to embrace the Cardinals at first because they still seemed like the St. Louis Cardinals to me...Plus, my family is also huge Oklahoma Sooners fans...and the Cowboys had Barry Switzer as their coach, and drafted guys like Roy Williams and other Sooners players...it was tough to stop being a Cowboys fan...but finally early in the Romo era I became a true die-hard Cardinals fan.

Also, on another side-note...I grew up right up the road from Tony Dorsett's Grandparents... I was best friends with Tony's nephew, Darius growing up...As a young child I tormented Darius because he was so bad at football/athletics, and being that young, I just couldn't understand how you could be related to Tony Dorsett and suck at football!! lol

My Aunt & Uncle live in Jackson Tennessee and they were friends with Ed "Too Tall" Jones who lived there in the off-season, his son would even come over to go swimming. In fact the first time I ever played the legendary Atari roller ball X's and O's football game was with that young man. Naturally I did not meet Too Tall as he was off at training camp.

So your a Boomer Sooner huh? Now THAT'S a college football factory. https://youtu.be/5l_d2hbh8nI and Barry did spawn a son who spawned a son who electrified Chapel Hill for four years and who will light up Jerry World for years to come. OU also taught me a lesson, and that is UNC will never be a real player in football. 1980, heels with LT as a senior and a kick ass defense, two 1000 yard rushers in "Famous Amos" Lawrence and Kelvin Bryant (both who played in the show), UNC was 7-0 OU was about 5-2 and we're seen as shaky, but the Sooners were favored by seven and the hook. My old man drops mad bank on the Heels, JC Watts though had other ideas. We thought coming in that the heels could defend the option as we had throttled a good ECU team who ran the same offense just the week before. We thought wrong, OU broke open a close game after halftime (14-7) and won 41-7 rushing for 495 yards,0 passing.

And don't get me started on the Staubach era cowboys. My first real heartbreak as a fan was when he led them to two scores in the final 2:20 in what was his final regular season home game https://youtu.be/vJFQNAuNor8

Ok one last tie in, well make that two.

First NFL game I ever went to was in Arizona. Next to last game of the 96 season. In fact it was the weekend Jerry McGuire opened at the movies as they showed the trailer on the big screen at old Sun Devil Stadium. My brother works in movies and TV as a transportation coordinator and he was on the set of the Oliver Stone fit of madness that was "U-Turn" and he flew me out and I got to spend a day on the set. They did the filming in a dusty hole called Miami Arizona. Got to meet Mr Stone(nice guy) got to meet Nick Nolte (weird guy) but alas I did not meet J-Lo or Sean Penn though I did get told some stories about how abusive he was verbally and even physically towards the catering crew.

As for the game itself, Cardinals rise up, come back late, skins help out with dumb penalities and Kevin Butler nails a chippie to win at the gun. But hey Enterprise rent a car gave us seats in their suite high atop The stadium, we ate drank and made
Merry with some good natured smack bantered about.

And a couple years later I did go back to Arizona after my brother bought a place in Tucson for Thanksgiving. We went to see UA-ASU which was a shootout with the cats winning 50-42 in a game that took close to FIVE hours to complete.

That's cool about Ed "Too Tall" Jones :-) I was only 6 years old when you suffered your first fan heartbreak in that Cowboys/Skins game...Not sure if I was into football yet...but two years later I sure was, and I suffered my own first fan heartbreak (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14CKs0rY0jE) UGH!!!! Still hurts to watch!!

Very interesting about the football game you attended, and the Jerry McGuire connection we both share...I was at the Christmas night game in 95 Cowboys vs Cardinals...which is the game that was featured in the footage of the movie There seem to be two different release cuts of that movie....Because I can be seen in one of them, but not the other. Our seats were in the South End Zone and there is a shot in the movie where the camera pans that section and the crowd erupts in cheer...In one of the cuts, you can see me in my Dallas Cowboys Jacket jump up....in another version/cut, I can't find myself :-)

Like I said, it was Christmas night, so you'd think everyone would be in a great mood...but goodness, there were like 6 fights that broke out in the stands...One of them just two rows in front of us...In the row in front of us, just to our right was a couple who where were Cardinals fans...and directly in front of them, also a couple, who were Cowboys fans...There was a stretch in the game where everything seemed to go the Cowboys way, so the two Cowboys fans kept jumping up & cheering...it was bothering the couple behind them, especially the woman...She kept yelling at them to sit down...and they told her this was not the opera lol So they kept jumping up, and she kept yelling at them...after 5 or 6 times she poured her entire beer on the guys head!!! So he freaks out and lunges back at them, and of course her boyfriend now has to step in to defend her, and they start throwing punches...needless to say all 4 were kicked out ;-) Good times!!
