Alright matt!
It seems to me like I cant convince u that cotchin is elte, you are a very harsh judge and you are to stubborn to realise how good trent cotchin is! You clearly dont watch him play that much!
The guys who you named elite... three of them are brownlow medalists for gods sake! are you saying that you have to win a brownlow to be elte! because if that is what you think then you are WRONG!
We have won four of our past five games you said we would lose to the saints when we practically led the whole night, you tipped us to win today and next week which means going into the bye we will be 7-5!
cotchin is only 23yo and he is a freak! I think he is elite because he performs week in week out, and is very consistent! Watch him play for a change and then you will see how good he is!
Who else do we have to beat aside from HAWTHORN BY 10 GOALS to convince you that we are the real deal! Geelong struggled to beat hawthorn earlier this year aswell!
And yes I remember paul chapmans goal, it was just another snap goal except it was in the grand final! those goals happen every week in the afl!
Watch the tigers against fremantle today the tiges should win and cotch and martin and maric will own!
and riewoldt will retake the lead in the coleman!

Lazz, i know that matt watches every afl game every week so he sees them play.

And btw stop bringing up crap of how richmond beat hawthorn and geelong only just beat hawthorn so that must make richmond a super team. Refer to the ladder for your teams positioning. its like saying brisbane is a better team then richmond because they beat west coast and west coast got the better of the tigers...

People have their own definition of elite. I'd probably class it as the top 15 - 20 players in the afl.

Is Cotchin having an elite level season? probably. Would he be in the AA team if selected now? Almost certaintly. Would I class him as elite now? Probably not. I'd like to see him sustain this pace for the whole season - if he does, he can probably be rightfully classified as up there with the top midfielders. He'll almost certaintly get there though, would love to have him at the Eagles...

Tigers are an interesting team. Alot of people are putting 4 or 5 Tigers in their AA teams (I've seen Newman, Rance, Deledio, Cotchin, Maric, Riewoldt, in various team) - which is a number that noone except the dominant team of the year normally gets. And they are what, 10th? Are people getting to sucked in to the hype, or are those selection fair, and the rest of the team below those top 5 or 6 players are just absolutly god awful?

On the flip side, the Eagles are the top team of the year, and at this stage I'd probably put one eagle in the AA team (Waters). Glass or Cox coud go in at a stretch. Its a funny season.

Fremantle. And in Melbourne, nonetheless.

Great call, Lazz.

I think this summed up the entire argument of Richmond fans getting ahead of themselves. It might be difficult to get to 7-5 from here. Some would even say impossible.

I could go and on about their ordinary performence today, but as they say a picture tells a thousand words. This sums up today's game perfectly (I think the one on the left is Riewoldt):http://www.imagebucket.net/bucket/is.php?i=10815&img=....JPG]

Why does Eddie Beets feel the need to run around high-fiving the crowd 5 minutes into the game?

I would think he simply loves the excitement. Some blokes keep it inside...not Betts!

Great win by my boys in shitty conditions (we're from Perth) against the Tigers today. It was good to see us string 4 quarters together.

Enjoy the bye boys...

You did, Brooksy, but you're a Dockers' supporter; I would expect nothing less.

I've never backed a team against the Dockers anytime for any reason. It is also why I have never won a footy tipping comp! lol

That's just because you have NO IMAGINATION MATTHEW

Also, the whole "elite" thing - by your standards, I agree, there's no way Cotchin is elite yet (neither is Dangerfield, for that matter). You have a higher standard for that than most, which I definitely see the point of. I don't necessarily agree, but it's definitely a fair argument to make.

I must admit that I'm glad that I won't have to hear about how amazingly good Richmond (who were, before today, 5-5 and out of the 8) are for at least a couple of weeks now. I expect them to finish probably 12-10 this year, which slots them nicely into 9th. Like usual.

Cotchin played well. Martin was crap. Maric was against the Dockers' backup ruckman in Griffin and either tied or lost the position. Not a very good advertisement for your team, I'm afraid, particularly after Freo got rolled on their own turf last week... and yet you can't beat them on your own turf.

Tigers have improved, but they have a very, very long way to go.

Also, I am sick of everyone labelling the Tigers' midfield as the best in the competition. There is no way in hell it's that good.
