Lol.
Well I'm glad you understood the humor of my statement, although now that I've read the entire message it seems the "lol" signified not laughter, but some kind of fiendish pre-war shriek as you immediately afterward fumbled for your bow and launched a reckless blitzkrieg of arrows in my general direction! All I meant is that pragmatically speaking a CT's designed trade-off is absent for D.5 teams as their leagues are entirely uncompetitive -- it was merely a passing observation. It's not a big problem because most D.5 teams are still learning how to tie their shoes, but it could be solved by only allowing D.IV to higher teams in the tournament. Now that I think about it, only NBBA teams should be in the tournament.
...
And now that I've recuperated from Coco's ruthless, surprise assault against my general to trivial managerial decisions I've made this past week my primal instincts compel me to attack back!
1)
I don't understand how you can say that it was probable I would've made the finals. For starters, our game showed your team is significantly better than mine, and I assume I'd have to get past you to get to the finals.
I mean, I played my best squad against you on maximum possible enthusiasm, on higher effort and I was only winning by four with 16 seconds left and you were without your highest salary player. If you had had your best player and played with more effort, then mere home court advantage wouldn't have dramatically increased my chances of winning. And that's assuming I would have HCA in the playoffs because of my record through 1/3 of the season, when I'm only two games ahead of four teams, one of which has a record not reflective of the team's power because of its major injury problems so far. So I'm confused as to why you considered my team a likely finals contestant, unless you planned on dramatically downgrading your team, which brings me to another point.
You're assuming I'd be able to keep the same team, but my team salary is unsustainable and I'll need to chop off a significant amount of salary. Also keep in mind, I played your team on max. enthusiasm in that game so I would need to balance making it further in the cup than you to gain an enthusiasm advantage, while maintaining home court advantage -- an improbable outcome which wouldn't have made my hypothetical team a finals favorite.
My team has little depth which means at a certain point in the season I would need to tank a league game to win a cup game. So I don't think my ability to win league games is now compromised, because now I won't have to intentionally lose league games to stay in the cup.
2) Your describing my next two league games as easy wins for my team, while implying I need to stay in the cup ignores that I might've had to tank one of the league games to stay in the cup, which bounces the problem back to its beginning. My team has really bad depth. My backup SF is an 8K center and I have two players that backup four positions. My fourth best guard has a 2k salary! I can't rely on abusing the GS of my best players while thinking they could recover the next week when that week of recovery may never come.
