I've read the last posts of this thread and I have some ideas for you:

1st- I've already mentioned this on the debate thread. It would be a good idea to use bb-stats NT forums. Everyone with autorization would be able to enter there and you could discuss things like enthusiasm and skills. For the rest of it, you could use this forum.

2nd- For the mentoring system, I'd already sugested this. I would suggest you to use the league forum, instead of the bb-mail. Because I think that by bb-mail is considered spam. Or even if it isn't, by the forum you could post the links to the threads. And everyone sees new messages on the forum simply by going to the standings page.

Those are my ideas for these topics. Now I'd like to know what you thik of it

Some good practical proposals from vasco, and I think they are the right way to go. Using bb-stats enables us to involve both supporters and non-supporters, and also it's a site well worth pointing new English managers to anyway.

I'm already casually mentoring one team who have just promoted from III to II. I'd be happy to volunteer for more mentoring duties.

Astragoth's enthusiasm is fine by me - he won't put people off. elmacca, because the people who are easily put off are almost certainly not reading the forum at the moment. The rest of us need some realistic idea about what is, and is not, acheivable. Astra is right about the dire state of the England establishment, and I don't think we should shy away from that fact.

Anyway, count me in. On the down side, I see Simon Hanlon was bought by a Spanish division 5 team. Not good.

I wouldnt see hanlon as lost, I had a look at the guys transfer history and he us quite good in taking a player and selling them with profit later, I am trying to be positive for a change and I hope this added value comes from him training his players well.

I am very much doubting at the moment. I have at the moment my training plans set, but I am doubting whether I should take another U21 potential player and completely throw away my competiveness away or keep with the 1 I have. I have 2 but the second one isnt that great, more a profit maker than a real prospect, however looking at the current crop off players, if they dont improve fast with some proper training from me, he might make it some day...

Ok, where are we going to discuss the team selection etc for the U21 team?? We have 2 options, the federation I created or the Buzzerbeater stats forums. Not sure if they are for english users only though, it looks to me like it is a normal forum and accesable to everyone. Does anyone know how it works?

In bb-stats, there will be a admin, who usually is the NT coach, and every tyme someones sign up in the forum, the admin can choose to give him permissions in that forum or not. So the ones who can enter there are the ones the admin wants to. I will follow this country, but not through BB-stats, since it's not ethic to have permissions in two different country forums. So I will only follow you throgh here

Elboss, do you want to be the admin on the BBstats forum or shall I do that job?

Vasco, feel free to join us on both forums if you want. I dont have a problem for you to join. The chance is very small Portugal and England will meet this or the next round.

ps Elboss has shared with me the players we have available to us, and I have to be honest, it is alot worse than I expected... Especially the fact that most players are trained in a similar fashion... It leaves for very little tactical room. We should win 2 games, and I will try to win 4. That is the maximum I think anyone would be able to achieve with these group off players...

No. I had already thought of this before the elections. I had decided that I would only be in one of the forums. If my list had won the elections, I would ask the portuguese NT coach to take out my permissions and I would only use english BB-stats forum. As I lost, I will only use the portuguese one. But fell free to ask for any tips you need or for help in something. You only need to send me a BB-mail and I will answer as soon as I can ;)

As for the players, it will be difficult to manage a team so homogeneous as you say, so I reccomend something: I don't know if this is the right thing to do, and if I'm wrong please correct me. A good thing is to select more SG's and PF's than usual, so that, if you need to, you can allways adapt them to SF. That way, you will have advantage at that position, without losing that advantage on the others.

But I just have a question: What about that idea of selecting 18 year old players? Are you still thinking of that?

yup. i am still thinking about doing that. Not so much 18 year olds but mostly 19 year olds. I would do this in the second season, not in the first one. I havent looked at all players yet, but I think there are quite a few players that are 19 and that are better than 20 year old players, or they will be alot better at 20 than the 20 year old one is now. I have had a look at the drafts for the EBBL for season 6.7.8. And like 10 players from the 144 players drafted are being trained... And when I say ten that is alot... :( Like you said yourself. A 19 year old player that is being trained is more valuable than a 20 year old player... Why not give the 19 year old player the experience for playing so we can use him when he is 20 or 21 than use a 20 year old player that isnt be trained and will be useless once he is 21???

Don't be a pessimist :) Chances are the coaches of the other teams are having the same cold shower as we speak. We have quite a few 21yo with reasonable skills, we have to see what the roster of the other teams looks like. I could scout them, but it's easier to wait and see who they recruit...
