Argentina is with home court is far and away the favorite to win the tournament. Playing them in the semifinal round would not have been favorable to our hopes of avoiding the repechage. It's all about positioning.

"In Jelme We Trust"

Most important game of your u21 career Jelme. Don't choke.

And since Gardner never once sniffed the U21, then accept my scrimmage so he can go 30/30 on your ass Thursday.

Gotta do this USSR thing. Technically, last game was much more important.

Isn't tomorrow's game pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things?

Yup, that last one was the key. I posted this on the offsite, but skipping the repechage is HUGE for u21's. Next season, dealing with a new (and still training) crop of players, Jelme now has the ability to wait 3 weeks before setting a roster, thus having the most up-to-date scouting information possible, knowing what team are able to keep players in good shape, and probably getting a pretty good clue about how much to expect guys to continue training during the course of next season.

And as others have pointed out, punting Brazil was an intentional (and brilliant) plan by Jelme. No matter what it did to the second round (as it turned out, not much), it guaranteed we wouldn't face Argentina (with their HCA) in the semi's. Kudos.

And seeing as how Jelme now has more scouting hands to help him, this should be the most thorough scouting yet.

Funny, it isn't showing up on my team page. I've hit refresh like 80 times waiting for it to appear.

So what does Argentina getting HCA mean for us at the worlds? And how do they determine who gets HCA? Random?

It's something like, the best finishing team from each continent in the consolation tourney. Which means teams that go to world's can't host.

Now, I have no idea why they get HCA in the semi's/finals.
