I think it would just be better if we could see a list of links to posts by user, regardless of where they are rated. I think that's a pretty standard feature of forums on many other websites. Sometimes somebody might want to look up something they posted in the past but cannot remember exactly where they posted it. Or maybe we'd want to look up somebody's posting history for some reason or another. This seems like something that's feasible to implement (since it is done elsewhere) and would be an enhancement.

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

Oh yeah? Well I think the answer is Twenty-Four! You just don't have the right question.

Otherwise, you're probably right. My suggestion isn't so original here, so if it was easy to do it probably would have been done already.

Well I think being able to see what posts were given a +1 will not increase how often people post,

Didn't say that, I said the post count feature would do so.

but it will allow people to see the type of posts that they get +1s for and perhaps this will allow them to increase the overall quality of future posts.

This sounds like you're trying to turn the BB forums into facebook. You should see the type of crap I get rewarded for over there.

As for the post count feature, I think that it wouldn't increase spam any more than introducing the +1 rating system. So would be a cool feature and would allow users to see how many posts other users had made, and could be compared to how many balls they have as a way to establish credibility.

So people who were required to post a great deal, like GMs, would have a low "credibility," whereas people who never post, like BB-Forrest, would have a high credibility. I don't see the point.

Well BB's should have a higher credibility than GMs so I don't see the problem with that you are saying.

Most forums include total post count, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be done here. It will be easy to implement as it uses a similar system to the ball counting. And the only argument I have seen made against this is that it will encourage more posting and some of these posts might be senseless. Well my rebuttal to that is simply that the ball posting didn't increase spam, so there is no reason to suggest that this would create spam. And if for some reason it does create spam it would be easy enough to remove.

new ball rating system- # of balls divided by number of posts. A lot like old system, but basically you don't get anything more posting excess or unnecessary posts. You get a rating higher if you post well, preferably in smaller impact posts.

I don't htink more posts makes a better community be default. I think better posts makes a community. Think of it like a newspaper. Everybody reads a well written well edited newspaper, imagine trying to sell a paper where everyone can just submit whatever they want for endless pages.....

If they do that, then they should lower the "1 ball per 12 hours to the same user" rule to no time limit, or maybe "1 ball per 1 hour to the same user".

12 hours is far too long.

no limit then, could lead to another form of spam. I just thinking of a user who runs through the Forum and one balling every post he see or by a user and generates tons of messages without sense.

At least for forum active people, like us it could be a bit problematic if someone make fun of it.

Yeah I agree that the no limit could drive some people to spam, but what about the 1 ball per hour suggestion? That makes spamming difficult, and doesn't penalise people that post often.
