How about if players can get cup-tied?

If they've already played for one team in a cup game, they cant play for a different team til the following season? Could even be implemented around the 32 team mark as well.. Just a thought..

I think that if you do read the OP's post he has a pretty good argument for why this change should be a good one. They have a rule so that you cant "buy" the league playoffs that lead to the B3 or in lower leagues promotion. And in the B3 to make buying a title much harder. But no such rule apply to the tournament so anyone can freely buy that trophy if they want. And i do like the idea to have to sacrifice something to win in the other. It gives room for good tacticians to shine a bit more then those that just play their 5 best every game.

I don't like the idea. I don't think it is currently unfair at all. People seem to be complaining that their opponents can buy great players before the match, but there is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing exactly the same. Neither team is at a disadvantage. In fact, having this allowed makes the game more interesting as you never know the lineup until just before the game, also, it means that saving up money is important because it allows you to do this.

If this suggestion gets implemented, then I wouldn't be surprised if people start suggesting that the teams should be locked in from the very first league game because "it's unfair that I am in fourth place and the guy in fifth place just bought lots of high salary players and is going to overtake me". It's just whining at the end of the day.

Under the current rules, the playing field is equal, and there is no reason it should be changed as it isn't currently unfair. The only argument someone could present in support of this idea is the realism factor, but that isn't an overly strong argument as there are 10 day contracts for the NBA for players not part of a team.

the 10 day contracts are for everyone that is free without contract, if lakers fire kobe, another team could sign him for a 10 day contract, here is the same, in PO u cant hire and in season u only can buy if another sells

But will he sign a 10 day contract? HELL NO!. Neither would any top tier player in the NBA

Point is that this rule works for all play-offs matches in B3, this rule works for all play-offs matches in every league and therefore this rule should work for all play-offs matches in cup or for none ;-)
Unfortunatelly all matches in cup are like play-offs ;-)
Two the strongest teams in country can play match in first or in last round in cup, so it's unfair rule if it works only in few rounds.

I agree...The guy I will be playing in the cup final( if I win tonight) added 600K in salary since the round of 16....I think the last 4 rounds( sweet 16 to the final) should have a buying freeze...

In NBA, 10-day contracts are also only available after January 5 of each season. So if the lakers fired Kobe now, teams would only be able to hire him for 10 day contacts after that point.

10 day contracts also have the clause, that, once you sign someone to two 10 day contracts, you can only retain them again by signing them for the remainder of the season.
The difference being, that the NBA does not have a side-running competion that finishes mid-season. otherwise i think their rules would be different. Im not sure about other basketball leagues, but we dont have a parralell running competition for our basketball league here.
So its not really fair to compare this scenario to NBA and 10 day contracts.
The new rules this season which mean that a player will get paid at least one weeks wages before being sold will also slowly weed out the kind of 'buy-then-sell' tactics of teams. or at least make them slightly harder to implement.

The cup is completely random - as someone recently posted, we could've met in the 1st round... we didn't..... I could've had a home match in the cup this season.... I didn't.

Each given week you have a number of variables. Gameshape, enthusiasm and injuries. You then have your games - league and possibly cup and bb3 - you then have your bank account.

Once you've decided what you want to achieve from your week, you then 'MANAGE' your team to try and hit your goals. Achieving these might mean dipping into your bank account, overplaying a key player, agreeing a mutual TIE (still the most ridiculous part of the game exists - not mutual TIE - just enthusiasm).... if your bank account doesn't allow you at your current point in time to be as flexible, you need to manage your expectations of the week better.

ie. Don't think you will win the cup final :D
