Raise your hand if you promoted from last year's (arguably) toughest D4 league (IV.10) into this season's toughest D3 (III.7).

(Raises hand begrudgingly)

And so to return the homage to Rhymin Simon I give you the III league toughness rankings based on his formula:
season 21 IV ranking: (214659.254)
incomprehensible formula that I just plugged in: (214659.97)

nomenclature:
wimpy (1)
scrawny (2)
weak (3)
decent (4)
solid (5)
stout (6)
robust (7)
rigorous (8)
tough as nails (9)
Chuck Norris (10)

The Season 21 D.III Toughness Ratings as of the end of interconference play (10/17/12):
III.1 - robust / 104
III.2 - Chuck Norris / 114
III.3 - stout / 102
III.4 - decent / 95
III.5 - Chuck Norris / 115
III.6 - robust / 105
III.7 - tough as nails / 110
III.8 - decent / 93
III.9 - robust / 104
III.10 - wimpy / 80
III.11 - solid / 96
III.12 - robust / 104
III.13 - robust / 106
III.14 - solid / 99
III.15 - scrawny / 87
III.16 - stout / 102

So according to the Simon Formula the "Toughest D.III League" is III.5.

And the "Easiest D.III League" is III.10.

The most notable thing that pops out of the data here actually is how bad III.10 is, throwing off the grading curve quite a bit. Looking at their league I'd say what the formula has against them is a lack of 2-4 strong teams up top...no sub 100 CR teams aside from the Browncoats and the top teams have pretty low PD.

Group hug!

I can confirm that, according to the sophisticated and proprietary "hrudey gets shafted into the toughest divisions and has the crappiest cup draws" formula that III.5 also appears to be the strongest III, adjusting for my team's relative impressive level of not-quite-mediocrity.

Wow, III.2 Chuck Norris? I actually thought we are somewhere between the 50 and 75 percentile.

Great conversation. I don't necessarily think that national rankings are the way to go but I like the debate! As a competitor in Div III.16 I can attest to the fact that our league is solid but we have some wildly inconsistent teams, my team being among them.

I wish there were pigmen. You get a few of these pigmen walking around I'm looking a whole lot better. Then if somebody wants to fix me up at least they could say, Hey he's no pig-man!
