I tend to do this every season for the last 2-3 rounds of the Cup. While it's not ideal, training gameshape keeps all my guys at "respectable" or above, even with a few going over 110-120 minutes. Affects me less because I usually don't have trainees, but there's certainly a time and place to train GS, though I'd say it's more for maintenance than to help boost.

I train GS pretty often. Sometimes to gain an early season advantage or if I'm heading into a week of big inter-league match-ups. A lot heading into the playoffs. You'll get about 1.5 levels per player boost after what it was going to drop to from over playing is figured. It can easily be the difference in a game but comes at a big price if you're training 18 or 19 year old.
