Obviously, I'm only talking about it logically. How does a player train to improve their jump shot and jump range shooting and not improve their FT shooting at the same time? They should be linked if for no other reason than they are linked.

On the flip side a lot of people, especially those with great trainees, just don't want to waste a week training FT's or Stamina just because 1 player on their roster might need it badly. You can train a player for FT's until they're 50 but you've only got a short period to train a player on most other attributes.

The act of shooting a free throw is actually quite distinct from the act of shooting a jump shot.

That people who are good at one may also be good at the other is just as likely, if not more likely, to be a result of the fact that they have practiced both equally than your claim that the two are linked. Becoming a good FT shooter in BB already takes considerably less practice than it takes to become a good jump shooter.

You're actually arguing that there's no similarities between shooting a jump shot and shooting a free throw? None whatsoever? You can't see the logic between having secondary training on shooting FT's while someone gets primary training shooting a jumpshot?

As for evidence, I guess since most great 3 point shooters/outside shooters in the NBA are also great FT shooters, that would count as evidence that there's a link would it not?

I never argued that there weren't similarities. Of course there being similarities does not make it logical that there should be secondary FT training on JS training in BB. There are similarities between driving a car and piloting an airplane.

And your second statement just proves you didn't read what I wrote. No, the fact that many great outside shooters are also great FT shooters (if that is even a true statement rather than opinion - I'm willing to accept it for sake of argument) does not count as evidence of a link unless you can prove that they aren't training FT shooting just as much as they are training their outside shooting. It's just a correlation. Given that most great FT shooters are known to spend hours each and every day just shooting FTs, that is pretty good evidence that if you want to be a great FT shooter you need to actually practice shooting FT. Not just shooting jump shots. The fact that some of those players also are great 3 point shooters may just be because they also spend the same amount of time practice their jump shot and their range every day. Find me someone who only practices one of these things but is still great at both and then you've provided some evidence that training one is linked to being good at the other.

But that reality gets in the way of the vast majority of people who play BuzzerBeater; those who don't actually want to have to work to figure out how to develop a complete basketball player in BuzzerBeater but would rather just whine about the fact that their "great" SG can't shoot FT and claim how unrealistic it is, despite the fact that over five seasons he has never once trained the SG in FT shooting.

Even if it could be proven that their is a link, I'd still argue that there is no reason to give FT training as a secondary to JS training. Because it is so easy to train FT now.

I'm surprised that you can't see the huge similarity between shooting a basketball from one spot/distance and shooting a basketball from a different spot/distance. I didn't realize that some people see them as 2 completely unrelated skills. We'll just have to disagree.

I read what you wrote, I just don't agree with what you wrote. Big difference.

Much of what you wrote had absolutely nothing to do with the one point I was trying to make, so I ignored it. And you wanted emperical evidence to agree with my simply point that all shooting skills are related, which I find ridiculous. Hence I replied with sarcasm.

Then why did you keep claiming I said things which I hadn't?

I don't have a problem with someone disagreeing with what I wrote, but you never actually responded to what I wrote. You made up your own little claims about what I wrote and instead responded to them.

By the way, you did it again here by claiming that I asked for empirical evidence that all shooting skills are related. Not something I asked for.
