Hello Joe,

It's interesting to read your analysis and your take on the coming season in the BBBL.
You clearly are a coach who knows what he is talking about, and i read all your posts with great interest.
It is true, this is our first season EVER in this great first division, the BBBL.
After 4 consecutive runner-up places in the 4 previous seasons in II.3 we finally managed to promote to the BBBL, and thus achieving our long-awaited goal.
Off al the teams in the BBBL, there are a few we already know a bit. These are Vottem Cowboys first of all, because i have been following your team for several seasons now, because for me you are the best Belgian team and absolutely the team to beat, also in the coming season. I also think you are a very skilled manager, your team has always been an inspiration for me. I think you have an amazing track record in our Belgian competition, and also played several very good seasons in B3, a competition only for the BuzzerBeater elite. For me, up till present time your team Vottem Cowboys has always been the favourite for the title in Belgium, and also for winning the cup. We have to go back very far in BuzzerBeater history to see when your reign actually started, and to see it is already more than a decade in BB time that you are ruling the BBBL. So in short, Vottem Cowboys rulez big time! Will there be a team in the near future to really challenge you ? The future will tell. Also this season, and despite the fact you don't seem to think so, you remain the favourite, in my opinion. The question for me is, how long will your reign in Belgium last ? One thing's for sure, the team that wants to win the BBBL title, has to get past you, which is the hardest obstacle to pass.
Then there is KV Forever who played with me in II.3 in season 20, and to whom i lost the playoff final that season, which meant promotion to the BBBL for KV Forever and has remained in this league ever since, so good job Polleforever for building a great team, and now being one of the best teams in the first conference, if not the best. You certainly made good progress the last seasons, that's for sure !
More or less the same goes for Royal Canin. This team played with me in II.3 in seasons 17, 18, 19 and 21, and to whom i lost the playoff final in season 21, which meant promotion for Royal Canin and also has remained this league ever since. And I think Bradok did a superb job of maintaining his BBBL spot in the second division, which is a very strong conference from what i can tell, certainly stronger than the first conference. So congrats to Bradok, for being able to keep his spot in this conference and proving he has a team that certainly merits a place in the BBBL. Honestly, I never liked playing against Royal Canin in second division, because this has always been a team that was very hard to beat for me, mostly because of the managing skills of Bradok.
All the other team are new for me, and so it will take some time for me getting to know the teams better. Because i believe you have to know your opponent, to know how to beat them.
Joe, I am flattered by your motivating and promising analysis of my team. I only hope i can live up to those expectations, because reaching fourth place in my first ever season in the BBBL, won't be easy. Although, there's one thing with which i apparently have been lucky, and that is that i ended up in the first (blue) conference. Because from what i can tell, the red conference seems much stronger than the blue conference, by a margin. So I am thankful for that, which gives me a chance to possibly remain the BBBL at the end of this season.
It is true what you said, the Eagles are well prepared for the BBBL, our arena is almost like we wanted it to be and our roster is pretty strong. The only thing we currently lack is dept in our roster, as our starting 5 are much stronger than the reserve players. This is something we will have to fix if we want to become a permanent...

...BBBL team to be reckoned with, because right now there is nothing we fear more than injuries in our starting 5.
Last season, we invested heavily in our roster with the intention of promotiing to the BBBL, which also meant we've spent most of our capital and were turning a heavy loss each week in division II, with our salaries going through the roof (by division II standards). Luckily, we finally achieved promotion, and suddenly we are turning a profit instead of a big loss ! The competition has only just started, but i already experience that there is much more money to be made in the BBBL, than in all the other divisions. Fan merchandising, arena attendance and tv contracts are suddenly much bigger than ever before experienced. Our board has already realised, the BBBL is certainly the place to be in all possible ways.
The goal of the board this season, is 5th place, so to avoid relegation and degradation duels and each place above the 5th is a bonus. If we can achieve the 4th place like you think, Joe, then believe me when i say that everyone at the Eagles will be very happy ! But like you say, maybe it's not an unrealistic goal, we'll see.
So far my first words in the BBBL, and i wish everyone a successful season and reaching your goals that you set out.

grtz,
Eagle.

Wow Eagle, that is some serious posting over there :)

I wish you good luck for your first season in BBBL, yes there's money here, but you won't earn it that easy, you'll also have to invest if you want to win games.

Looks like you didn't come here to tank your season, as your home win against KV highlights, Polle was a great surprise last season and is doing a wonderful job so a victory against him is always good to take !

I know.....Joe want like it at all, but.....
I'm in the wrong conference; (this is hell)....Where do they all get their money ?
Do we fight ....and loose every week again and again. (don't like that)
do we try to make money ?(and give our boys the right training)
Do we aim for the title in the second division next season? (and come back stronger)

The Dragons go for the money and training. (sorry Joe...on the blue side everything should have been different)

For all the others...have a nice season....
No stress for me and see my money grow.

Goluch goes !
Denis will become a big star. (he can make the American team)
He will get training out of position... outside defence...
When we are out of the cup we will see who will leave then...

Good luck, Joe ....and become the star of the BBB. (Still I'm one of your greatest supporters)

Hi all,

it's been a while since i posted, but i've been doing my usual bussy schedule. I must say, after 12 seasons NT, i'm glad i'm not the NT coach this season. Joe, i wish u the best of luck! same goes for the B3. All the new rules concerning economics are really made in ur advantage, so maybe this finally will be the season we see Joe win the B3. would be fun to see a Belgian win it!

As for me and my Angels, i have no ambitions what soever to stay in the BBBL. I'm tanking this season. If i can somehow get the 7th spot, then i'll take the extra cash when i go back down. But my prioprity is training my youngsters. I've got 2 players who will be the cornerstones of my futur team and i'm building an economy to be able to be a big player in a couple of seasons (once my trainees are starting to end there training :D) I'll still be on the look-out to add another yonug Belgian to my roster, but i'm not expecting to make a move anytime soon. Any moves that i might undergo will be orientated for the futur of my team.

I must admit that my current economy could get me enough impact players to most likely avoid regulation, but i'd rather restructure my entire team and build one that could challenge for a potential title down the road. I've got high hopes and expectations. i won't deny that i dislike tanking, however my economy took a hit 2 seasons ago, where i was absolutely not expecting to go down at all. So i had to restart from scratch and i don't want to do such a thing again.

I'll be doing many things with the time that i have now (since i'm taking a gap-year from all U21/NT duties, other than the occasional advise for Joe if he would request it). I'm hoping to get enough time around to restructure our Belgian BB forum. I started up that project 6 seasons ago, but burried it due to U21/NT & GM duties. i'll be looking at what i had first, and move on from there. GM-LoD approved my previous draft for the redesign, but a lot has changed since then ;) A lot will involve new threads etc, however some help would be nice. i've already began preparing a new rough draft ( based on the old one). i'll still be contacting Joe for some guides i'm hoping to post up, but the basic idea is to provide a FAQ in Dutch AND French for the new managers. this will require a LOT of my time, but i'm hopefull to finish it by the end of the season.

As for my intentions this season: a long cuprun, a couple of BBBL wins (i'll be chosing specific games. if i think i can win, i won't hesitate to go for it and even throw around the occasion CT. i appologize in advance for the teams that might suffer from my CT since they'll feel disadvantaged, but if i got a shot at avoiding the 8th spot or gaining a spot on the rankings, then i won't hesitate to pull the trigger).

And a special shout out to our newcomer, the Eagles: Best of luck mate! ur playing with the big-boyz now. Forum activity is much higher, don't hesitate to pitch in! I wish u all the best, but BBBL is quite different from II, especially in terms of activity. hope u'll enjoy it and prove to be another active addition to our fora.
