Week 3 Round-up:
The ThreefersFender Stratocasters – With no reserves of energy to pull on, Londo and crew received Jimi's 1967 Monterey Pop Festival Treatment:
Elbflorenz Supernova II – Despite Casademunt's 7-13 from downtown, an encouraging tie at half-time, and a valiant team effort, things fell apart in the second half when the Supernova bench just couldn't contain their D.III counterparts.
Thalassa Ottakring – With their opponent saving cup minutes for a few of their starters, Ottakring was outgunned and fighting in a foreign land. And so they sunk back to the seas from which they came.
The UpsetsBERLIN KNICKS – The Knickerbockers put a shine on their home court as they mopped the floor with the handful of scrubs that made the trip to Madison Square Garden
Thanatos to Team II – They lived up to their name, spelling death for their D.III foe. The execution was so emphatic in fact, that the THA starters got to sit the fourth period.
Tsalakomenoi B.C. – Haven't you always wanted to pour alcohol on a guitar and set it on fire? Yeah... I thought so.
Our three representatives in Week 4 of the Utopia National Tournament will all face challenging games:
BERLIN KNICKS (675) – They travel to the top-heavy D.III team, Colossus Atletico. A pair of tough league games will force their opponents to choose where to focus their talent, possibly providing an opening for the Knicks. If they can pull through, they will join Scoop Figliss TV Repairman (S27) and Zoreille974 (S28) as the only IV.44 teams ever to make it to round 5.
Thanatos to Team II (496) – They play host to Maiuri Dreams, a struggling D.III team with a roster comparable to their own. Whether or not THA will carry on to round 5 likeky comes down to which side puts more talent and effort into the cup.
Tsalakomenoi B.C. (795) – Signs point to the end for TSA. But will their D.II opponent's miserable game shape be enough to tip the scales in their favor? If so, let's hear it for the underdog!
