That's one way to play this game, if that takes the stress out of you, you can just look at the boxscores for sure!

The fact that the outcome it predetemined has nothing to do with the chance for an upset, the engine could decide that there will be an upset..

Yeah, this never happens. Just look at the previous posts in this thread (although no employees of BB have responded that I am aware of)

The story of this game is, the underdogs managed to fight back for 3 quarters but ran out of air in the 4th quarter. Why is this unacceptable for you?

No, the story of this game is that the coach (who we have no control over) mismanaged the timeouts and substitutions that were set before the game started. The sim became unrealistic in the fourth quarter of a playoff game, and nobody has an actual explanation as to why--other than assumptions.

Until we know the reasons for timeouts and 4th quarter mechanics, there is no way to prevent the ridiculousness that happened in the 4th quarter of the game. Even if you throw my game out, there is no way that a balanced team could overcome a top heavy team if the backups aren't allowed to play their minutes in the final quarter. The sim prevented this from happening with the loopy timeout logic. I haven't even bitched about the steroids that seem to have been given to my opponent at the beginning of the 4th. If we're going to use game shape as an excuse, then there should have been MORE early substitutions to rotate the players in and out.

But to clarify the comments about the Game Viewer/Play by play... There is not a predetermined score and of course there is a chance at an upset, just like there is a chance for a blowout 4th quarter. The game is generated as seen in the Game Viewer, one play at a time. The viewing of the play by play is just delayed to appear as if it happened over 1.5 hours.

I am a little confused exactly what you mean by this, so the play by play is delayed to appear over a 1.5 hour span, but you say the game is generated as seen in the viewer....so how is it that we can see the outcome of the game before the game is actually over? Just a little clarification on that would be cool, I may be misunderstanding

None of this explains how timeouts work, although I'm a bit confused as to how a game that sims in under one second is not a predetermined outcome. We already know that the sim is flawed through things like the game clock continuing to run during dead ball scenarios, so how would we know that timeouts are working as designed without an explanation of how they are supposed to work and what they do?

What seems more likely is that the sim computes the final score (just as a external website used to do) and then uses random data/info to indicate how it got there to give the appearance that a game is ever in doubt. It's good to know that games are done in less than a second so that I can stop wasting 3-plus hours per week watching entire games looking for trends.
