lets face it, all the guys with cash stashed away are not in a position to challange - Mr A is too far ahead for anyone to splash and with the new Gameshape chagnes i think that once the all-star week is in, no one is going to change their roster.

I just thought I'd make a comment about the GS changes and their impact in the second half of the season. I have noticed that while players lose 2 GS levels with a purchase (and in the rare cases...3 levels: see Big Fish) teams need to realise that the allstar break ISN'T the time to lock in players to avoid the GS effect. Teams can easily leave it even two weeks in and still buy and get players GS up to Proficient by finals. I have done it and others will surely testify to this. In fact, as I think Koops mentioned not so long agao, one doesn't even have to train GS to quicken it; it is simply about getting the optimum minutes played and players tend to get back their GS quickly...even with a single week according to Koops. So, the ASB deadline is a myth in my opinion. Of course, older players may struggle to get back their GS as quick as younger ones and let's face it, peeps are often buying up the former rather than the latter come finals time. Anyway, there's my two bob's worth...

yer the ASB is my guess at when peeps will do this so it is quite possibly a myth.
but my reasoning is thus.

a) Post ASB, everyone has offloaded players from their cup runs, so suddenly the market has a slight abundance of players being sold off.
b) People look at the schedule, and its near the time where they are about to start playing teams from their own conference again, and realise that perhaps they need to be winning their first 2-3 games of the '2nd round of inter-conference' games, in order finish ahead of those teams.

d) I think 1 GS update would get ur guy back to Respectable. That means playing him in your first final with Resp GS at best. (I think that my calc is correct.

e) HCA is under-rated.

f) I also believe that people see the ASB as a bit of a motivation to improve their rosters. kinda of a 'What? My guy didnt make the all=star team? Right thats it, sell - buy

anyways. just my 2 cents.

so if u are going to gun for HCA, you do it immediately following ASB.

Yeah, agree with your comments, Coach...

...I know I'll be re-examining my schedule closely post ASB so as to avoid relegation...

its just a theory really. There will always be other teams that will buy up 2 weeks out from the finals. its just very risky and the rest of the league has to be in a certain 'shape' for that to really work well.

Certainly there's risk, along with everything else. All evidence I have seen (anecdotal) sees in-form players drop a few levels and then gain it back in 1 week with correct minutes. I'm sure it would take 2 weeks in some cases. This is without GS training.

I think the change needs to be tweaked by BB in the future to be a bigger drop unfortunately. Even if it's a bigger drop the closer you are to end of season.

Totally agree, Lody. This would be more effective in stopping the late buy ups of rentals...something I will liekly do this season to stay up...

i think the solution is simple, bring forward the cut-off to buy players by 1-2 weeks.

Yeah, I got 3 starters so I'm pretty happy.
It's a shame G. Howorth didn't make the 3pt shoot out because I'm pretty sure he'd be a lock to win it.
He just hasn't had too many looks from range this season. :(

Two starters for me this season...after no appearances at all last season.

Abimbola should give a decent showing in the 3pt comp I think as well.
