haha i know right? Kobe shot 3-20 :P In all the lakers fans defense though, The clippers did only beat detroit by 4 points.

A win is a win is a win.

Unless it is wine

Btw -- Lakers will OWN the clippers in the playoffs if it comes to that. Unless Chris Paul punches Kobe in the nuts the way he punched Julius Hodges

Don't get me wrong, I agree both are 4/5 seed material. I think that the Clippers have been clearly the better team in the two meetings. I also thing Kenyon Martin fixes the depth problem in the front court. As a Thunder fan I look at which one would I rather play in the post season. The answer is absolutely the Lakers. They don't have the outside shooting or the athletes to be able to run with the Thunder. RW torches the Lakers...Fisher/Blake have no way to stop him, or CP3 for that matter. Clippers also have a better 6th man bench scorer in Mo Williams, which is of utmost importance in the NBA. Lakers lost that in Odom. The only position on the court where the Lakers have an advantage is the 2 guard. PG, SF, and PF all go to the clips and i will give a slight edge to Bynum at Center. PF is the only one that the Lakers are even close at in the other 3. Before I would have given depth to the Lakers, but not when Martin gets there.

Just because two teams have similar fates does not make them equal. Kobe is back to trying to carry the Lakers and he has never won big doing that. The Clippers will get better as the year goes on and they adjust to the entirely new roster. Don't forget Eric Bledsoe will get healthy eventually and also be a good guard off the bench. I have watched both teams play at least 10 times a piece and it's clear to me that the Clippers are better. By a landslide? Maybe not, but it's noticeable.

I just wanted to go back and remember this spot on assessment and prognostication from Stauder.

I really want it to be a Lakers vs. Clippers first round matchup. The games are very intense, physical, and I think that Kobe and Chris Paul are both great closers that can make it interesting. Also, I'm confident the Lakers will come away with the win here, which makes this matchup very nice to me. I'm not just basing this on last night's game either (though I don't think the Clippers will be able to find an effective solution to Bynum).

Wait a minute, Bynum is only a slight edge over D'Andre Jordan though!

Sarcasm is not obvious, did you see last night's game? Bynum took him to town.

So you want to use a 5 pt. home win to sling some mud?

As a Thunder fan I look at the last time they played the Lakers and still want them in the postseason hands down. Kobe should give the ball to Bynum and Gasol almost every trip and play inside out, but he tries to shoot too much.

Kobe's shooting percentage is the 2nd lowest of his career this season. Not a good sign when he is shooting it as much as he is.

As for that post? Are the lakers playing better right at this moment? Probably. When I made that post Billups was not hurt and the Clippers have not been the same without his defense, leadership, and big shot ability. You can't deny that. As for the Bynum comment...I will fully take that one on the chin. Bynum has played great when he isn't shooting 3's and when Kobe actually gives him the ball. Jordan has not been close to him this season, admittedly.

Also everything I posted was present tense...meaning as the teams were currently constructed. I think the Billups subtraction and the Sessions addition has definitely affected things. I can admit right this moment that the Lakers are better by a little bit. The standings reflect it, the play (most of the time) reflects it.

As for saying the Clippers would get better as the year went on...who knows if that would be the case with Billups or not. It hasn't been the case so far without him, but they have won 6 of 7. Other than that, what prognostications did I make? It was an assessment of current teams in present tense. The Bynum/Jordan advantage was understated but that's not a prognostication.

So do you think your Lakers have a shot? Surely you can see Kobe's trying to do too much and that they don't have the ability to hang with the Thunder, right?

What the hell are you babbling about? Of course since I have been right this entire forum about EVERYTHING I am going to give you some crap. The fact that my original argument was your over valuing of Clippers and how you were blinded by their short comings because of a couple flashy dunks. Chauncey Billips loss wasn't going to change much. Sorry, he got off to a good start but he is 37 years old. And honestly was going to fade or get hurt.

When did I say the Lakers were going to win it all? I said the Thunder have been my choice since pre-season. And a road loss to the Heat by only three points when Durant had 9 TOs and Westbrook shot crappy while Lebron played out of his mind isn't changing that. I don't let one win or one losing streak or a fast start effect my view of things.

What I did say was that if anyone upsets the Thunder, I do believe the Lakers have the best chance. Because of their vast playoff experience and the advantage they have inside. Even though the Spurs have taken 2 or 3 from the Thunder I don't think they can beat them in the playoffs. The Spurs are a deep team built for the regular season. Not for the playoffs when teams shorten their bench.

And yes Kobe shooting percentage is down but so what? Sure he has driven me nuts some games. And everything you have cited about the Lakers offense I have posted in here 4 times before. Glad you finally caught up. Kobe has 5 titles, he will be more than fine come the post season. Not worried about it. But Sessions has made a huge differences in their offense, which I wrote about at length would happen if they brought in someone for Fish. Another reason I remained confident in the Lakers were the better team, they ultimately will make the right personnel decions. And the Clippers bring in players like Nick Young who does nothing to help them.

But it has to worry you a bit considering the Thunder have no real knowledge how to win in the playoffs. Experience is a huge deal and only Perkins and Fish have any on the Thunder. And they won't be shooting the ball more than 5 or 6 times combined. You can't say you have any real knowledge that they will rise to the occasion when they never have before.

But yes you are correct your post had everything to do with what was going on at that time. Thank you for making my point that you have been too caught up in the moment and struggle to see the bigger picture on this topic.
