correct,
you stated that with the given skills it is not necessary to defend at long range, so it might be better te defend inside, so you can grab more rebounds...
This is indeed something else than telling you said that the best defense against an outside offense is to defend inside.

Yes that is what I ment. The opponent of the topic starter did shoot only 3 out of 25 or something with his motion vs an awful perimeter defense in his game before the one vs the topic starters.
If I were a coach in real life, I wouldn't be afraid at all when my opponent shoots like that, I would just cover every inside part and let them shoot.

true.

yet I also understand Juicepats' reaction , since if people would read this tread they might get the idea they should best defend inside against an outside defense in any situation, and he tried to make clear this is not the case.

So in a way you are both right. And succeded in confusing one and other.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

Patjebono is a kind of a "conditional gambler" which means "Let opponent shoot from outside, if they are lousy shooters every rebound is mine and they are finished. End of story."
On the other hand, natural counter-tactic for outside shooting based opponents is 3-2 (if they are "not so good") or 1-3-1 (if they are really good).

I can tell you about ratings... You will have better Inside Def rating, and weaker Perimeter Defense rating than usual... I was really surprised with the difference... I'll post here my ratings with two different game tactics...

Team ratings for
Punoglavci Citluk

Offensive Strategy: Run and Gun
Defensive Strategy: Man to Man

Outside Scoring: mediocre (low)
Inside Scoring: awful (low)
Perimeter Defense: mediocre (low)
Inside Defense: inept (medium)
Rebounding: inept (low)
Offensive Flow: inept (low)

And the other game:

Team ratings for
Punoglavci Citluk

Offensive Strategy: Push the Ball
Defensive Strategy: 2-3 Zone

Outside Scoring: awful (high)
Inside Scoring: awful (high)
Perimeter Defense: awful (medium)
Inside Defense: mediocre (medium)
Rebounding: mediocre (low)

Offensive Flow: inept (low)

Offensive flow is the only thing that stays the same for me when I play like this... And somewhat the Inside Scoring... Everything else is different...

Were you home or away for both games, or was one home and one away?

Any three for me
Any four will score

What would you think about playing "Full court press" defense against "Motion"?

I think the difference is way to large. I don't think that are fair comparisons.
I guess you had a different enthusiasm, or different game shape + different players.

Perimeter defense drops from mediocre(low) to awful(medium), that about 6 levels, which is quite a lot if you ask me.

That was two games in a row, I think there was difference in only one player... Same enthusiasm, same game shape... I think that I simply have good balanced team, except in Inside Scoring, I'm covered in all other places...

I played FCP ones and won the game... I had more steals, but the other team dominated in Rebounds...

If you play against a team with not so good Rebounding, I think it's not bad idea to play FCP... Especially if the other team has bad Offensive Flow... It all depends...
