You have a very bad perimetral offense,average with a 3-2 defence is a low value(many teams in Iv italian division has a better defence that you)
I don't know how it is possible you were promoted in II division with that defence,you was lucky at that time

See, this is weird, because I feel I've won because of defense. I got killed in DII last season, but I had a weakened roster due to transfer flubs and overhauls. But, look at this season, and my other three season in DIII, and even way back when I was in D.IV...

POINTS ALLOWED. Seasons 7,8,9, and now 11, I have led the league in fewest points allowed. My record over this time, 79-8. I've trained OD and ID a lot over this time, and I'm training OD as we speak actually. I've gone with the approach of offensive balance, tough defense and team rebounding, and I think my results have been pretty good.

Now, I don't think you see it in the ratings as much as you do, JS or PS etc. , but if you pay attention to your opponents FG% that's where you see the difference. Also, having a solid defensive team means you can play m2m for anything. I rarely deviate from m2m.
