Once a fortnight I get together with a few mates and we play 5 bucks per person poker. so the winner gets about 50 bucks, which isn't really much in the grand scheme of things. But that 50 bucks makes a big difference, it makes sure people don't be stupid and go all in for no reason etc.

In the same way, awarding 50k isn't too much money, but it is enough that teams will try to pick the right team, and it is not too much money that it would be worthwhile throwing a game just to win that 50k.

i know plenty of team who thrhrow a game to get those 50k, just look at the cup ;)

How is the cup relevant? Only the winning team gets 50k, so throwing a match doesn't get you anything.

you throw league matches to compete in the cup ;) Wyhy you shouldn't do the same for other 50k^^

There seems to be zero upside for this suggestion and I cant figure out why you passionately want to link a meaningless monetary amount to a very obscure suggestion.

Now Im all up for betting but this seems a bit far fetched. What about $50k if you can guess the name of your draft pick correctly or better still spread betting on the height of your draft.. (i'd go over 6'8" if it was a PG and under 6'3" for a Center) :D

Well it wasn't my suggestion to begin with, but all I am saying is that I think it would be pointless to implement it with no reward. So if it is implemented it should be with a reward for winning.



As for throwing matches, then let people do it, I personally don't think it will happen (or very rarely) and so it isn't really relevant. No team that makes the playoffs is going to intentionally lose so another team can win the league.

i think your misunderstanding the implications of this.

ok look at it this way there are 4 teams ok

team 1 is playing team 3
team 2 is playing team 4

now team and 1-2 are sitting on 20-1 each
team 3-4 cant make the playoffs

team 3-4 have both got team 2 to win the comp

so 4 plans to lose so he can benefit with the 50k
team 3 crunchs to hopefully defeat 1

now if 3 defeats 1 , and 2 wins due to 4 not trying

a few possible outcomes will be

team 2 now has home court advantage for the finals match
team 2 may have also tied meaning added benefit off enthusiasm aswell.
team 1 may have tied aswell which means while he will have high enthusiasm he will now be living in fear of a crunch against him in his 1st final match.


hopefully this example will clear up why so many managers are against this idea

I guess I just don't think number 4 would lose on purpose just so that he gets 50k on the off chance that team 1 loses to team 3. Team 4 would be better off playing CT and try and beat team 2 and make the final which is better than the possible 50k they might have got.
