And you will never see a matchup betwen Kidd and Cousy, and i wouldn't wonder if even harris will domnianate Cousy but Cousy makes the best of his talents during his era.

I think comparisons like that are skewed, as the comparison ignores that if Harris could play Cousy, then Cousy would have had the benefit of the same level of training, and be better than what he was. Or vice versa (Harris with very little training).

that was my point when you also read my first paragraph and my top ten list ;)

Gotcha... it's been a while since we posted those. Our lists are actually very similar...

Well, if you're including Arenas, then you can include AI.

Huh?

Wow... long time ago - had to go and check it out myself!

As a PG... if you're including Arenas as a PG, you can include AI.

I just dont agree. AI was always a SG, maybe in Denver at the end he ran point badly, but no question he was a SG. However Arenas although he often played like a SG was always listed as a PG and played the PG position. Just confused how you make the comparison.

Except for much of his career AI was listed as simply a guard. On most bio pages, he's now listed as a "guard" - which I think is the more accurate. Much like Arenas.

I've said quite a bit during this process (well... the one I've been involved in at Hoops Manifesto) that I don't believe that players fit into the parameters we paint any more. The notion of "PG-through-to-center" is something that's been in place for decades... but I think that players over the last decade have been far more flexible than that.

I guess it depends on what your definition of the point guard is, but in general, if its the player that handles the ball and makes the "critical" passes / the play maker which the offense runs through...then I'd have to say AI was definitely a point guard.

Sure, a lot of time he choose to shoot the ball rather than pass it...but the offense is running through him either way. No difference than with Derrick Rose, right?

D-Rose lacks AI's street cred...

...of course, he might actually win a championship.

And he doesn't have an MVP. Yet...
