If teams need NT players from their own country to compete with the top, or if those players make such a big diffrence, I'm sure the BBs will have to tweak on those in the future, as I don't think they will sit and watch a few teams build up a larger and larger gap, solely by having NTplayers. It would make NT managers too powerfull as well, as they can choose which teams will have the NT players. That is something nobody wants offcourse.
i understand where you want to go. However, merchandise isn't that simple.
when i bought Blairon (belgian SG) my merchandise went up by 10k, because he was a starter. When i added Meekers ( Back-up C, belgian) my merchandise went up by 3 to 4k. not alot at all.
The fact that they are belgian, gives you the merchandise.
Now, Joe both had Thys and Gilmont on the NT.
When Both players played as starters, then Joe would get 15k to 20k more than if neither of them played a minute. With Thys being on of belgians best NT players, it's hard not to put him in the line-up. However, Gilmont doesn't (or hardly) gives Joe any merchandise if he doesn't play in the Nt game.
Also, the better the NT results, the more merchandise the players (and experience) the players get, since that NT will stay in competitive games for a longer time.
So if i as the NT manager, would abuse my position, by only selecting players from my II.3 division ( just to give an extreem example) then 3 things would happen:
1) Belgian NT won't have good results.
2) Coaches, such as Vottem, won't be happy with me, since both Thys and Gilmont/Vercaigne are worthy of being on the NT, since they won't be getting the reward of the merchandise that they ought to have.
3) Because of the lesser results, the reward in merchandise for the NT players, won't be as large as if the NT would be if Belgian NT would have better results ( in competition games, since scrimmages don't count for the world ranking, and thus, if it's a scrimmage, players normally get less merchandise than if their player plays in Nt competitive games)
So make the sum of the 3 things here above, and then ask yourself. Could a manager stay NT coach in a community that would have over 100 active members? i hardly dought it.
I'm not going to deny that i only got re-elected, because of the lack of competition in the NT election. My results in season 14 were bad, in season 13, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either.
The merchandise that is given through the NT is a
reward for keeping the GS good, and for willing to keep training and paying the salary for that player.
it's more like a Bonus than anything else, because if you got a belgian player in your starting line up, then he'll already give you quite an ammount of merchandise, without being on the NT. Having a player on the NT gives you a reward in the merchandise.
If the merchandise wouldn't reward a team for having a Nt player, then alot of people wouldn't both training their players beyond a certain lvl.
unless i'm totally mistaken, then it is exactly for those reasons that merchandise calculations were changed a few seasons ago. you'd get more merchandise if your player was from your own country. The goal their, was to promote people to train trainee's from their own country, and not to take the best available trainee on the market. Why? because nations such as Spain, Italy, France, USA, etc have far larger ammount of people, and thus, they have far more draftee's, and more make it to the market. By changing the Merchandise, you will give the smaller nations way's to compete with the larger nations, since smaller nations will go for draftee's from their own nation, rather than that from one of the big nations.
