Matchday #4 7-13-10

Big 8

San Diego Crusaders @ Marietta Magic wasn't a game for the fans despite a close result. Magic took it easy and let Sean Ryan and other starters get some rest for the cup game on thursday. Crusaders on the other hand had scoring and assist leaders Vicens and Gassol make the game their own. Crusaders 117-112.

TDX Dutchemn @ E.C. High-Flyers was basically the Dutchmen throwing in the towel to get prepared for the cup. Donny Hutson and his starting crew were seen in a Pub back home watching their reserves get slaughtered, but still seemed to be having fun after a couple beers. Flyers 101-58. After the game Mannu was aked how he felt about potentially leaving the Flyers and he responded, "You know how it is managers like to change things up, so I'm not too mad, but If I do end up leaving I had fun in this league, and if I stay, well I'll keep having fun."

Cleveland Crazys @ Tachenko was a good example of the power of home court advantage and effort. Without the boost Tachenko received, this on the edge thriller would not have gone into overtime nor resulted in a Crazys loss. Tachenko 98-94. After the game some questions were asked of why Phillip German only played 20 of the 53 minutes. Tachenko increase their steak to 4 games and are sitting pretty at the top of their conference

Red Terrors @ Champaign exploded in the 4th quarter after a bland start. Champaign took it easy, but they had enough skill to thwart Terrors 34pt 4th quarter effort. Champaign 94-89. The down-low duo of Pyatetskiy and Gajda were asked about their roles in the outside ouriented offense of Champaign and commented, "Sometimes we feel like our coach neglects our low post abilities, but he assures us that if we stick to the game plan and just take our open opportunities we will win every game."

Great 8

No Potential @ The Illusion was a comprehensive victory. Illusion took it easy and won their 4th straight game, 97-80. In a post game interview Statovci said, "I love it when we aren't playing run and gun or motion, because I get a lot more touches on the ball and can show everyone how effective I am in the post".

1Derz Bangerz @ Roxas City Red Claws was yet another game with a difference in effort. The Red Claws didn't feel they could win and put less into the match. Bangerz showed no mercy and pounded the ball inside for a 111-97 victory. Bangerz didn't need to worry about missing shots because Rincón was picking up everything.

Indiana Gavno @ Prov City Investors couldn't quite be called a match with Gavno only playing 4 players. Tomas Zullo, PCI point guard, had fun running around with no defender on him. Investors 121-53. Gavno are reportedly having trouble finding the right replacements on the transfer list after selling multiple players.

Chicago Goats @ Armageddons was a real turn of the tables for Oconnell and his teammates. After losing 80-66 last week to an opponent they should have beat, they won 81-63 to an opponent that should have given them more of a run for their money. An interview team wanted to talk to Partridge, but were kicked out of the away locker room right away. They did manage to hear Goats manager Kaygdanimal screaming at his players that they "have no f*cking heart", but the doors closed on them right after that.

Nightly Notable

Juan Rincón of the 1Derz Bangerz. He scored 23pts to go along with his 26 boards and 2 blocks. His 7'0 frame boxed everyone out and had they been playing outside he probably would have blocked the sun as well.

They average 27 PPG, 25 RPG and 4 APG. I think they should be happy with their roles and stop complaining.

That is very tame compared to what was said after the doors were closed. Blood was found everywhere in the locker room but the only person come up missing was the towel boy. All signs point foul play but no charges have been filed.

It was actually tied after the 3rd and I though I had a chance. Maybe if I played Bacci and played with more effort. Oh well...

I think an indication that this is going to be a very competitive season is that not 1 team has 0 wins. Also me and Tachenko will eventually suffer a loss 4-0 doesn't put us ahead of the game just yet

Can everyone tell me who they want their "franchise player" to be because for some teams its obvious like PCI and Carmona, but teams like Champaign I don't know. I'm asking for this because it would help me add to the matchday recaps. Thanks in advance

I don't have a franchise player. My team is more like former Detroit Pistons full of role players.

I have two players really that could be considered franchise on any given night. German and Barry--German usually scores more.

I was surprised when I saw that. Magic it is going to have a sensational inside game. On the other hand, Magic needs good PG/SG/SF... Are the magic going to get more players?
