Realism is not the point.

He wanted to know why his team fouled so much, I concentrated on the skills of the the players who averaged two or more fouls per game (as the players with 0.7 or less fouls per game really aren't the guys causing problems for him).

I find it a better use of this thread to make an attempt as a community to try to discern what causes certain players to foul more often than others, and also what doesn't cause them to frequently foul.

If you prefer make use of this thread to argue about reality, you're not really helping anyone.

I didn't see it as about fouling "too much" or "too little", but more as "why does this player foul so much and this other player doesn't?" I have players on my team who nearly never foul, and also players who are routinely in foul trouble. Is this caused by their skill levels or those of their opponents?

The more trial and error we can collect with each type of player, the closer we will be to answering the whys in this scenerio.

I'm also curios as to why my players get into so much foul trouble. See my last game as an example if i given away ha;f as many fouls i would have won the game most likely! Why s my coach telling my best players to foul aswel. 2 players got fouled out and both of them important parts of the team and then a 3rd and 4th on 5 fouls? It's crazy my team always gets into foul trouble. I don't even have particularly low stamina or anything like this.

I guess what i'm asking is there any definate factor for reducing fouls. Could the BB's lessen this factor too, it seems over board!

Your fouls per game in competitive games this season would put you near the top of the NBA, but wouldn't be first.

That's definitely within the acceptable range.

On the other hand, I am curious how offensive fouls are determined, since my Cs and PFs pick up loads of these.
.

I noticed many (but not all) my offensive fouls are called imediatly after the player took the rebound. Maybe he was too agressive grabbing the ball... So maybe upgrading rebounding skills might work.

For the other type of offensive fouls driving and balhandling might be the offensive skills that need to be upgraded to reduce offensive fouls... Dunno, I'm just guessing here.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

Likely a combination of both. It is, of course, hard to drafw definitive conclusions without knowing the skills of the opponents..

This was among the types fo information my brother and I had hoped to glean from playing scrimmages against one another most of last season. We'd email each other the skills of our respective players every week, so we can keep up with what type of stats our players were playing against, and trying to figure out who was succeeding and why.

The results at this point are pretty inconclusive, as we would mix up offensive and defensive patterns as well, so a player who scored a heap of points playing in one offensive tactic may struggle to score in another tactic, etc.

Once I'm out of the cup this season, we'll try to do it again and see if we can't get some more conclusive results by playing the same offense & defense every week.
