I'll be using this draft as a cash lottery since I have a full set of ideal 18yo trainees. In that case I'm only looking for high potential 18yo's.

There's only 6 low potential 18yo's available so I'll go with scouting them individually.

I used up 27 scouting points today (10 on the combine and then scouting and interview a handful of players). Unfortunately, of all those points spent the best I've turned up is three 5 star-3 potential 18yo's and one 4 star-3 potential 18yo.

Here's what i have left:

-12 unscouted 18yo's with 4 or less "rough-estimate" ratings
-2 scouting 18yo's with a star rating of 2

I haven't planned to interview the 2-star or lower players to ensure I get as much information on the remaining mystery 18yo's.

Anyone disagree with ignoring a player after the initial scout if they have low star rating?

Yes,

You're not going to get much for a MVP 18 y/o with a salary of $2500 in my opinion. I am guessing you are looking for the home-run, million $ prospect which would be 5/5/18 or 5/4/18, or maybe even 4/5/B+/18

I say keep looking and ignore the 2-ballers

Yeah, looking for a home run as I don't have any training spaces left. That is unless the home run is so perfect it forces me to sell off another. The latter would be a win-win

+1 to all of you that responded, thanks for the advice!

Keep in mind this, look for a specific position (for example i'm planning to get guards this season) and u will find things much easier for you, sort the 18s first then sort all the draftees below 196cm (for Gaurds ) gradually and then see if you need the group demo or not, but generally scout combine is the better to choose first, cheers.

I didnt expect a great pick this year given im the most dominate team in my league so i have been scouting players from the beginning of the season. I have scouted 13 players so far and of those 4 of them are 18 years old with 5 star rating. 2 with 4 star potential and 1 with 3 star and the other 2 star. I have also 2 4 star 18 year olds with 4 star potential. I consider that a win considering i have been scouting randomly lol. Hopefully i can land 1 of them to get money out of them or train and sell another trainee. The two 18 year olds with 5 star rating and 4 star potential look like great ones though. one is a 6'6" SF and the other is a 6"8 PF. I also have a 5 star SG with only 2 star potential but he has an A+ rating and he is 6'2" and has a pretty good box score.....if only box scores really meant something because he had 29 points 6 rebounds and 6 assists lol.

well lucky you, my draft class this year looks untalented compared to last season(i had a 5 balls 8th pick HOF and a 5 balls SF with star potential) but this season all the 18 yo gaurds are 4 balls only.

i think u should forget about the 2 star potential he's either a role player or a 6th man.

I had 9, count 'em 9, 18 year old 1-2 ball word of mouth players turn into 5 ball players last season with the group demonstration. I didn't end up scouting anything worthwhile, though.

I'm considering doing it again this season because I've just flushed 27 scouting points down the toilet

For me, it depends on how many 18 (vs 19) year olds it covers. I almost never purposely draft a 19yo. If you've got 8+ 18yos (and then a good number of 19yos) covered by demo it's worth it. I did it last season and the talent spread from the guys demoing was actually more 5's and 4's than 1's and 2's -- the "initial impressions" are almost uselessly off-base. One of the 19yos wound up being in my top 5 ranking because the draft as a whole was so awful, so I suppose I got my money's worth.

This season the Demo covers 8 18yos and 11 (!) 19yos for me, so I'll see where I land record-wise before deciding what to do. If I hope to get a guy worth anything with my 2nd round pick I'll do the demo and rank up those 19yos. The 10 points on the demo scouts the 8 18yos once (8 points of value), so if 19yos are worth (2/11) points each for me I might as well do the demo. I think I'll wind up doing it again.

Sorry for the awkward structure, sort of stream-of-consciousness responding.

Hey this is only my second draft so am hoping you guys with a bit more experience can help out.
first up - what sort of potential can I expect for a 3ball draftee?
also I have a 6'10 draftee who's position is apparently a PG, how does that work? does this just mean that he will start out with good passing/handling skills etc???

Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers guys
