I invited like 40 Japanese peopel through facebook...but it seems their applications (those who tried to sign up) were denied. Not sure why.

What the heck does this mean? There's no screening process to sign up for BB.

There is, when I signed up I had to wait a day or two for it to get approved, also they made me do a write-up proving that where I lived was a real place, not sure why but they did.

I stand corrected then. I signed up in season 15 and I was playing the game immediately without delay.

This right here would explain a big part of the decrease in the user base. The tougher you make it the more people you'll lose.

So is this something that is done with every country now?

I'm not exactly sure on that, but I do know that the delay almost prompted me to quit trying because every time I would try to sign it would say " your profile is being processed, please check in later". This is normal for all of the people I've talked to that joined. And you are correct, although they did this to crack down on double accounts, etc, this could be a big turn-off.

Well this is really strange, you've been lucky I guess.

I signed up in S9 and a friend did in S10 and we both had to wait 24-48hrs to get the account approved. I don't know if the "approval request" has to be processed by GMs/BBs manually or it's all done by the system.

Anyway I don't think that waiting 1 day decreases the interest in a person... I mean: you haven't even tried the game yet!!

Come on, for sure it does. This is just common sense.

You have somebody in front of their computer interested to know what this game is all about yet then you tell them too bad, come back in a couple of days. I'm betting that half the people that sign up don't come back in a couple of days if not more.

It's like owning a movie theatre and you have a customer very intersted in seeing a move one Saturday night. But instead of telliing them to come right over, you have them wait for an email and then they can come out Monday after they receive it. Some people will lose interest by Monday. Others had time Saturday night but don't have time Monday. Others will go find another theatre altogether. But without a doubt, movie theatres would be far less busy if they made people buy their tickets 2 days in advance.

Well the comparison with the movie theatre is wrong because it doesn't take into consideration duration. Your comparison is perfect if you want to increase users for one day or for one week.
What I hope for, instead, is a stable increase of BB population :)

It's true, probably many people don't even click on the e-mail 2 days later.
Even if you find a way to give access right away what I can tell is that 100% of them would quit in a month anyway. If you can't wait 24-48hrs, you can't hold for more than a month in a managerial game.

I'm not saying a "direct access" is bad, I agree it would be an improvement. I'm just saying the problem is not there.

Whatever.

The point is when you're in sales, you close the deal when it's in front of you. Putting them off a couple of days just loses business. Making access more difficult for the client also loses business. And all of this is common sense.
