If I've counted correctly there are 20 games today, including ours, which could have an effect on our position in the standings. I went through them in advance on the offsite so I won't bother listing them here. Only the results are important.

Hong Kong crunched against Poland and it almost worked for them but they lost 79-81. That leaves them 4-4 and out of the running.

Australia slaughtered a very strange looking Danish lineup and they've moved out of our reach.

Ta.

Armenia (Hayastan) have lost to Lithuainia but unfortunately not by enough to give us a chance.

Finland beat the previously undefeated Israel. Another one we can't overtake, though again the gap there was too big anyway.

Ukraine beat Malta to go to 6-2.

Kazakhstan lost as expected against Iran. That means we overtake them if we win by any score.

So far a win will put us above Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.

Another game done, and more bad news. Greece have beaten Venezuela. I did mention last night on the offsite that I hoped Venezuela would crunch, they did, but it wasn't enough. Greece 6-2 and out of our reach.

Its certainly not over yet. Lots of games still to go. As I write this Albania are hosting Montenegro, and Mexico are in Serbia. We probably won't know our fate after our game. There's quite a few in South America that we'll have to wait for.

Albania, who have had the easiest draw in BB history (it might not be, but I doubt anyone is going to check, which to my mind makes it a fact), are leading by 20 in their game with Montenegro. That will put them on 6-2.

Mexico crunched but came up short against Serbia. That means a win for us will move us above Mexico. At the moment that's three teams we can move above.

I haven't mentioned Sweden who are above us in the current standings. We can ignore them as their game today is already counted so we would move above them with a win too. It means we need to improve one place.

As expected Algeria have beaten Morocco. Chile have thrashed Luxembourg. And Albania did beat Montenegro. That will see those winning teams finish above us.

Well, we got the result. A win by 30. That's going to leave it close. I can't quite get my head round the whole situation but I think it leaves us needing Colombia to lose, and Germany and Brazil not to win by more than 30.

I have been informed that Scotland, our friendly neighbours to the north, cough, splutter, can help us by stopping Peru beating them by more than 26.

I can't actually say come on Scotland, it would cause my tongue to erupt in hideous ulcers, but lets hope their English coach does us a favour.
