They are both important. Imagine a player with phenomenal JS but average JR (unfortunately those badly trained players exist). He will demand the ball to shoot every possesion but he will be pretty inefective from long range.

welcome to the world of dwayne wade and lebron james. Ok lebron can knock down some threes, but he is not exactly a prominent 3pt shooter

Not in this game. JS is considerably more important than JR here. JR is easily the least important skill for big men and it's the least important guard skill for perimeter players IMO. Especially in a game that still favors those that play inside tactics that won't shoot many 3 pointers.

In Lebrons case, it is JS which is ~15. His JR is Legendary for sure. :) His Jump Shot is not consistant, but it is not getting worse with distance. And his driving is around Legendary+++ or so :D
Wade, of course, has lower JR :)

I'm not sure if you intended it as a joke:)

However, lebron definitely hasn't got legendary JR. In his first 10 seasons he has 1136/3332 3PM, and he shot a decent 34.09%
Reggie Miller, for instance, has shot 1596/3950 at 40.4% in his first 10 seasons
Ray Allen has shot 2121/5372 at 39.48%
These are legendary

Wade attempts under one 3 pt shot per game, I hope you don't believe he is anything close to a 3pt shooter:D However, I'm not saying lebron doesn't shoot threes with a good percentage, but he is far from legendary

Look more games, not stats :)

James does not make 40% 3pts because of bad JS, not because of bad JR. His Jump Range is one of the best of all time. He is shooting with same technique from 20 feet as well as from 35 feet distance. And he is actually making these very long 3pointers with incredible high % (for such a distance).

Of course, Reggie, RayRay, Korver are different category. They have not only Legendary JR, but also Legendary JS :)

And we both agree on Wade. His Jump Range is poor :)

I did look at the games:)

Again, I am not saying he is bad in the 3 pt shot department, he is decent, but most of his points come from elsewhere, so I think it's improper to say he has 20 or 20+ JR, or that he is one of the best of all time. His mechanics are the same also because of his physical strength, he really does not need to alter his shot most of the times, at least not because of the range that he shoots from.

Anyhoo, going back to original subject, I think it may happen that players are awful from 3pt territory and decent from mid range. Just as it may happen that players are very good at range shooting and not that good at point blank lay-ups. All the motions require techniques and a lot of practice, especially for professional level.

In BB, it's debatable what can happen but if a player reaches 10 JR, it;s almost impossible to have atrocious JS

I agree with this 100%. I would also agree with game shape needs to go. Stamina is good enough to replace it.

Im really am sick of the Jr thing. It just very misleading, the thing that make me gringe the most is, it jack up the price on player.

The point he's trying to make, is that even though Lebron isn't as good as Miller/Allen from 3PT range, his JS doesn't get worse from that distance. He's not as good because his JS isn't as high as Miller/Allen, but it could still be that his BB skill JR is 20. A 15-20 (JS-JR) player in BB will shoot a lower 3P% than a 20-20 player, so Lebron could be a 15-20 guy while Miller/Allen are 20-20 guys.

His salary is under 100k but that's not what he is selling for.. So that is big difference I was pointing out..

I think js//jr need some fixing for sure.. Inside defense and outside defense help defensive tactics and teams win games. I agree. But does js/jr help offensive tactics.? everyone know Jr in the outside tactic really don't work as good with game shape and stamina making it suicide or catch 22 to play them.

Unless your player are in good games shape, stamina every game you better have driver on the team. I found out how to play 2-3 zone and 3-2. and other defenses. But the offenses in the game the only a few work. Jr/js need some minor fixing.

If the jumpshot(jS) is how well his jumper connect then you have jump range . which is how far he can shoot. At same time stamina is a factor. Then you have game shape. Something has to give. I would get rid of game shape this would make Jump shot more effective. Since a lot outside skills are expensive to get . Its fair in my small opinion
