So you got 14/64 OREB and 34/62 DREB

He got 21/62 OREB and 45/64 DREB

As I said the numbers don't add up because of the 'ghost' rebounds. out of your 64 misses, 59 were rebounded (5 disappeared, they couldn't hold onto it type of thing). Out of his 62 misses, 55 were rebounded.

Therefore there are 12 rebounds which disappeared, not enough to rebalance the count, but almost. Also at half time the rebound count was 24 (8 offensive)-26 (7 offensive) so perhaps stamina might have come into play because the discrepancy is mostly due to the fact that his offensive rebounds spiked in the rest of the game.

Yeah, thanks, from your comments and comments from others, it makes sense that this isn't such a crazy outcome.
I'm sure there have been games in the past where the outcome was favorable on my side, and I didn't notice it.
It would be cool if 'Team Rebounds' was a stat that the box score collected, so we could capture those missing boards and see who they belong to.

I don't know if someone already pointed out in the previous answers the fact that your small forward had 0 RB while his direct opponent had 15!
Team rating is a medium value but the man to man difference maybe has its relevance in the actual ratings.

The SF outcome definitely played a part in my rebound discrepancy.

Do you know that team ratings are calculated as 'a medium value' (not sure if you mean average or median), or are you hypothesizing?

just my guess!
doesn't matter the exact formula for team ratings if the engine is using the diference of man to man players.

I think I get what you are saying, and I agree.
That would indeed help explain a lot about how this outcome took place.

TEAMRATING RB is based on palyers skills while C is valuated the most, PF less, SF slightly more less.
REBOUNDS are calculated mostly as matchups among players and their skills.

So i assume your rating RB is created that high becose of your dominance in PF/C, while his rating is created that high becose of his complexicity over more players.
The reason why he got more real rebounds is simple - matchups. Matchup difference at SF position was much bigger than matchup difference at PF/C so he earned from that a lot. Dont forget, pulling skills higher and higher is les and less efficient. Try to play with players with no weak spots becose the better league you play the easier weak spots are exploited.

This all makes sense.
Throw in a little bad luck, and it gets as bad as my rebound discrepancy turned out to be.

While not particularly relevant to your game, the discrepancy can also come from offensive efficiency at times.

In example of what i mean...

One team shot 46/85 (54%)
Opponent shot 37/94 (39%)

the better shooting team had 13 offensive boards, 35 defensive boards
the lesser shooting team had 13 offensive boards, 26 defensive boards

team A had a high 6, Team B had a mid 5 rating according to buzzer beater.

Just to show an example of a game i watched where rebounding was impacted by something outside the rebounding category. It didn't change the outcome of the defensive boards, but it allowed the lesser shooting team and lesser rebounding team to impact the margin of boards by probably 5-6 rebounds.

I think the takeaway from your game is that you are considering your rebounding rating to be the factor that determines your rebounding, and while it's typically a primary indicator of your potential performance in rebounding, it is impacted by positional matchups as others have stated, shooting percentages, types of shots taken and where from (notice your 3's), amount of free throws your team gives to the other team (if you make the last FT, there is no defensive rebound opportunity), and in some cases luck or game engine can share a small bit of the blame.
