You could think about binding it to the next paid player if the aim is to have superstars dispersed more evenly.

If it helps, it could even have a fixed % over the average of top 2/3 players, as needed I suppose.

And yes - you probably should bring a bit more money into the game via the TV contract as well. But definitely you should also increase the salary floors (%) in all divisions. This will achieve two goals at the same time:

1) Will make tanking much less efficient. Competitive teams won't feel it at all.
2) Will virtually give a bit more money to teams in lower divisions (the salary floor is a percentage of TV money - the higher the league level, the bigger the %)

I think this is part of the "other" possible changes/means of extra revenue.
Not sure if the "team consolidation" won't do something there already, at least at the lower divisions.
Sounds promissing though I'm sure it's something that has to be tinkered with carefully in order to keep things "balanced", especially with such diversity between countries.

IMHO merchandising profits should be more depending on player's recognizability in BB world (successes in international competitions, NT games in big turnaments), not from salaries and even not from TSP (smart build could give more than TSP). If it's possible every player should has his own success history (B3 games, NT games, Cup/ League finals etc.). Each success should have its importance and accordingly influence on hight of merchandising (B3 champ, WC champ the most?). The successes of the last season should count the most, and less and less of the next ones.

What I mostly mean: If you build (you know how) a team with low salaries, which win with teams with much bigger salaries, you shouldn't be penalized for this, but rewarded.

Anyway, bonus as a % of top salary player (as a idea for rescue NT players) is still better than % of 8 top salary players. It would only ease building "one season teams" with monster salaries.

Generally, much better would be a change the salary formula...It should be done anyway.

Besides the salary floor, over-extension should be considered, too. Give the bonus only to those who doesn't pay over-extension tax (-bonus). I believe that the arguments to over-extension tax, mostly apply to merchandise bonus as well.

or maybe even just a raise of the salary floors, this can be done this off-season, which means next season the BB managers will already enjoy it.
No, it cannot!!!

F@cking learn to announce changes well in advance, as it was when BB used to be ran by outstanding minds. I have already planned my budget for next season (and acted upon those plans) with the current salary floors in mind. I am sure many others have done so as well.

The 15% bonus can be introduced next season because it is not an expense. Yet I would not do it either 'cause again - planning is involved. I might wanna run a team with one player with a salary right below the salary floor and a bunch of 1k salary guys, just to maximize tanking. For the tenth time - When you introduce changes, you need to give us time to adjust!

BBB: 2 (S37 S38); Top tier: 7 (S35 S36 S37 S38 S39 S41 S63); Cup: 9 (S25 S35 S36 S37 S38 S39 S40 S41 S61)

I mean I kinda feel obligated to vote against a merchandise boost based on a single player purely because that inherently disadvantages the playstyle I like to use, (strong bench players and 5 good-but-not-great starters) It also directly powers up the teams my lineup is meant to counter (ones with a lot of strength concentrated in 1-2 players).

But I also welcome the challenge of going against the grain. I chose this playstyle because it allows me to compete effectively despite having 15% less than the league average budget (I haven't finished my arena yet, team is too new), and I really don't think a $5K difference (between what I'd receive and what most others in my league would get) in a budget of over $300K really is gonna make or break anyone.

Tl;Dr: Against it bc it nerfs my playstyle, but won't be too upset if it happens bc it seems like a relatively small change.
