Aussie, Whitebeard and Fishy all spending up more, quite an arms race this season. I can't remember ever before all of the top teams doing this last minute buying up.
I think it is indicative of the times, Yoda. as you said in that other thread about making the GS hit a big one next season or it's a fail. Perhaps teams are looking at this impending change and thinking, "Well, I wouldn't normally buy in rentals (aka Big Fish) but this is the last season I can do it!" In the ABBL there is also the last chance to take out the pirate by adding these beasts.
We are seeing it elsewhere too. I mean, check out the arms race between HA and TAK in II.1. Their rosters would be right at home (actually top 8) in ABBL. Even Xerxes in II.4 and the legend, Iwen, have brought in rent-a-beasts to ensure victory. I have no doubt that if we examined all leagues, even many of the IIIs we will find this is happening to a greater and lesser extent. It's the last season to do it so why not, teams are no doubt thinking.
With a bit of luck the BBs really examine the things that make this game and those which don't. I think dramatically affecting the GS hit to squash 'beasts' and dramatically affecting the attendance prices for tanking teams are two facets of the game that will improve it.
