as a side note in answer to Jacks question, how does eveyrone have so much money.

well thats a good question. but the better question is... who is going to have much money in 5 weeks?

Team TOTAL ? Arena Size Ratio
Vios Violationers $176,355 21050 $8.38
Hadders Heros $257,488 19723 $13.06
West Indies $235,995 16100 $14.66
Raz0rBacks $227,074 13260 $17.12
Mad Rangas $329,264 17025 $19.34
Corio Bay Giants $386,937 20000 $19.35
hopelessly addicted $412,399 20000 $20.62
Cunning Linguists $337,788 16190 $20.86
Moosas Mad Men $310,416 14626 $21.22
TeamAkuma $331,199 15451 $21.44
South Gisborne Storm $413,557 16820 $24.59
Awesome^.- $475,099 19025 $24.97
The Players $426,795 16681 $25.59
Coalcliff Clippers $310,371 12070 $25.71
Geelong Vipers $348,436 13327 $26.15
tannum tantrums $419,460 14578 $28.77

So as you can see, if i use my team as an example, for every seat in my arena, i pay $20.86 in player salaries. The higher the ratio, the worse off. Obviously with Vios tanking he is best off. Same with Hadders.
Awesome have the highest salaried team at the moment in the league, (of course, maybe they are about to offload someone) but they have a big enough arena to compensate for it. Tannum and Vipers ratio's are the highest, mainly due to their arena sizes. So you could say that these teams will have the least amount of money in 5 weeks.

...... but of course, the above statistics assume selling ur arena out at every home game. and we know that a 20000 size arena will never sell out. And the above ratio doesn't take into account seat prices, PR-manager who brings extra people to your games etc etc.

So really, the above stats are totally and utterly useless, and are probably more applicable at demonstrating why statistics can be used to show any situation given the wrong assumptions.

Nice work Coach Regan, I love statistics, useless or not I find them quite interesting all the same.

I wish I were saving $300k per week, but with player salaries, training staff and the money i'm spending on draft unfortunately i'm only around the $250k mark. Also with the big losses, people will lose interest and stop showing up soon. I've tried lowering my costs to counter this, so we'll see how that works out.

ahh yes i forgot about training staff / scouting

i was netting around 300k per week with minimal staff (only have a 20k level 4 trainer which i will give the boot to soon) and no scouting, so that makes sense

still..250k a week...that is......dangerous... :)

Yeah and with the Cup serving me up bots, it probably is a little better but that won't last. I've got a $25k lvl 5 trainer and all i'm doing at the moment is training, so I'm willing to spend a little bit extra there. If only one of my bloody trainees didn't go down for 2 weeks after the last game!

I'll be happy if I can keep dragging in $200k+ a week all season long, should be a nice buy in to fight relegation! ;-)

I've got the second smallest arena in the league, going to have to keep expanding it to be competitive!

Haha not whinging about the transfer market, just making an observation...

I don't think training and selling players is ever going to make a decent profit, that's the point I was trying to make.

haha Nah don't reckon it does either

Let's say a decent trainee costs at least 500k (superstar+ potential, decent stats to begin with). Multiply by 3 = 1.5 million.
And lets say it takes 4 seasons to train that trainee to become semi-decent at age 22.
Assuming trainer cost is 20k per week, 13 weeks per season = 260k per season in trainer costs. Over 4 seasons that works out to be $1.04 Million.
Total cost = 1.5 + 1.04 = 2.54 million. Averaged across 3 trainees - 840k.

So you would need to sell your trainees at 840k each after 4 seasons of training to just break even. It's possible, but not much profit to be had. Not to mention the heart break of selling your trainees that you've had for four seasons.

Best way to make money in this game is tanking. period!

I still love training though, its my favourite aspect of this game to watch a player grow from scrub to superstar.

mad rangas and hadders heroes are pretty lethal i reckon
they have quietly cruised through last season, and will probably do so for the majority of this season on very cheap rosters so they will be making piles of money

errr..... yeah... guys .... like totally watch out.....im lethal as bro!

haha truth be told i'm worried about relegation this season.

Yeah I agree with that. Unfortunately, like you said, the best way to make money is to tank. The game doesn't seem to financially reward anything else. No prizemoney for finishing 1st - 4th, cup victories only get your $50k (rather than taking the gate receipts for the game).

Surely the fact that teams would rather finish 5th than 3rd or 4th should be sending danger signals to the BBs?

i think the raising of ceiling floor this season is a step in the right direciton - but i also think that BBs are wary of making 'silver bullet' changes. gradual changes over the course of 3-4 seasons are much more manageable and easy for people to grasp and get used to. sudden changes would kill the game.

so i think over the next few seasons, the ceiling floor will rise again a little a bit again and again, so hopefully it does change.

transfer market is a funny one though, ive lost money on it, but overall, my draftee's have made me a stack of dosh. even if i take into account money spent on draft points. and ive kept draft picks (still got 3 at the moment actually, one is 28 this season).... but overall, ive learnt so much about the transfer market, that if i started again, i would definately be able to run at a profit, easily, without having to 'day-trade' as such.... just knowing the best times to buy/sell and the players to not buy.....

but still.. making $2m on the transfer market, over say 5-6 seasons.... is nothing when at the moment you could tank and make say $150k-$200k a week.

Agree with the comment about sudden changes. All the more reason why the BBs should communicate and let us know what's going to happen. Even just a simple "in two seasons we will be making 'x' change as we feel it will correct 'y' problem" would be good...
