Thank you, congratulations coming from the best Belgian manager always feel good to receive ;-)
Indeed, actually i wasn't far off, but in "money time" i got 2 players fouled out, and that was the nail on my coffin.
Otherwise, I think I could have secured a win, but... now i'll never know for sure.

Anyway, we surely can't complain, I think i can say our first ever season in the BBBL has been more than satisfying.
It will be extremely hard to do better in the next season, but...you never know...

Good luck to you in the finals, but i don't think you need luck, since you are by far the better team.

grtz,
Eagle

Funny you should mention the SF position, but this is no coincidence.
I always found it very difficult to find a good SF for my team, and in my experience i can say finding a good SF is the most difficult position to find a good player for.
So this is not only the case for Belgian players, but for many other countries also, i believe.

I was scout for a rather long time in Algeria, and they didn't have trouble finding trainers for their SF. And this is a country with approx. 10 times less users than Belgium !

So I don't think it's everywhere the same problem, but of course as SF is the spot that requires the most versatiles and complete possible training, it's logical that there are so few.

Anyway, in Belgium we used to have world-class outside players, now we start having very decent inside players, but promising SF don't seem to show up since Backaert ...

My final post of the season, so i want to start with congratulations :)

First to Tienen and Eagles: #1 and #2 in our conference and well deserved. You both defeated me in a game i was hoping to win. Against Tienen it was the competition game i lost with 4 points: I really felt bad after that loss.
And against the Eagles it was our PO game. Even though it was an away game, i was still hoping to win it.
So congratz! I hope to do better next season.

Also gratz to Mizu for winning the cup and to Vottem for winning the title (yeah, you will win ;) ).

Although i clearly stated this was going to be a transition season with focus on training, i still feel a bit disappointed with my results. I know i've done many weeks of out-of-positioning training and that did cost me. I guess you can't have it both ways in BBBL.
Next season though will be different: complete focus on the competition. My goal is the #1 spot of the conference ... and then to lose the final against Vottem again ;)

Long-term plans: so next season i will put focus on results. Since my team is young enough (except my starting SG) i can focus for 2 or 3 more season on results without having to get much more players.
However, it might get boring: it has already been said here, that managers are starting to lose their drive and will to play this game, Belgium is losing managers. So you have to search for new goals and i can think of several ones i still want to explore. So it might be that in two seasons i will completely sell my team and start with something new.

In short: @Tienen & Eagles: I hope to challenge you more next season. @Vottem: hope to see you in the finals next season :)

I'm sure you will be a competitor to be seriously wreckoned with next season ! Watch out "Deep Sea" Polle is coming to get you !!

On another note, i already pitty the promovendus who has to take the place of Obira Dragons, because he will be in for a DEADLY season and a serious "Bloodbath" !

When they don't have the money the are doomed.

even if they have teh money, they are still likely to be doomed. However, mark my words: sooner or later, the other teams in that conference will crumble. only the team standing at the top has max cash. Mizu is trying to solve the problem by focussing on the cup for more income, but the fact remains:

when one division is clearly stronger than the other, it has to invest more in their staff, players etc to avoid going down. Hence it puts a heavier burden on those teams. sooner or later, they need to retool or have to sell a player due to economical circumstances.

the best example to show it is by looking in the history of the BBBL itself. in season 8-12, the blue conference was the stronger one. many teams wanted to compete and ended up going down, having to retool and didn't come back.

So sooner or later, teams will fall apart in the bloodbath conference. Considering that Joe and Q will have extra revenue from being the BBBL champ/cup winner, they won't have a to big problem dealing with it. However, the other teams will have to play it really smart and plan their futur seasons out or they'll probably end up facing economical trouble. I've seen a fair share of teams in that situation already.

So if i end up in the Bloodbath conference, i wouldn't spend it now. i'd wait another season or 2 before i'd want to invest :P but in 5 seasons, the balance should probably be restored more or less. but untill there is some kind of balance, i wouldn't want to be the guy getting promoted to the bloodbath conference. i was in that situation 2 seasons ago. had a 10-12 record, yet i was 8th.

concerning the diminishing amount of managers:
i fear this won't change in the futur. BB is a very unfair game in terms of economy and playing catch up. managers starting now take ages to get into II, and then the fight starts to go to the BBBL. Many will experience this as an unfair advantage and will likely quit instead of keep on playing. It's a shame, but that is how it goes with such games...

I don't quite agree. I turn some nice profit despite a 700 k roster, which is MUCH MORE than many other BBBL teams.

Anyway, congratulation to Joe for winning (yet !) another BBBL trophy !
