Seriously, isn't it time to get over that *Nationality* stuff in an online game. Do something for your country in RL, never look back, go out, work hard, take it seriously, show all others what your stand for. This is only a --> game <--.

I'm an European living in Japan (probably forever), therefore I play there. There's not so many things which I have in common with this country, but I play BB, so I'm doing it in Japan. I'm not into Basketball too much, in fact I never watched a game in RL. But I like the game itself, I'm more interested in the way how to manage a team and build up players, than to become a top shot. Even if I'm not doing it well :0. As a micro-nation member, even without a good knowledge of the whole game, I make a lot of money anytime. I could buy *success* up to a certain point. That's what some people in micro-nations do. I think a merger doesn't hurt anybody and will make the game pretty interesting due playing different people from different nations in the same group under one roof. (Asia etc.). It's boring to set an expensive game squad by a standard tactic to play a weak or bot team. That's nothing else than like using the standard algorithm on a rubick's cube to finish it. Easy as pie... I want more competition, but keeping the flag from the country I represent.

I like the mix of the Asian/Pacific group, I would put India in it, too, as an other user said. And after some user whine and say, they will leave the game if nations will be merged, I would do the other thing and become a supporter if things turn out more interesting.

Cheers to all

Why single out only micronation users and instead target all users by completely restructuring all leagues?

Let everyone keeps their flags ad NT's. Keep cups by nation. Everything else gets broken down into at least 8, and possibly more, regions.

For example (with # of users based off data from Buzzer-manager):

Africa/Middle East - 410
Asia & Oceania - 1979
Atlantic & Scandinavian Europe - 4046
Balkans - 3114
Central Europe - 3412
Eastern Europe - 3992
North America - 1560
Central & South America & Caribbean - 1303

There might be more ways to break the European regions down even further but even still none of 8 regions would need more than 5 levels of leagues. If the issue is too many Division 1 leagues, wouldn't that solve the problem (while admittedly probably creating others)?

One of those issues with this idea is that 8 nations (Italy, Spain, USA, Poland, France, Greece, Lithuania and China) account for 50% of the entire user base of BB and, as a result, would disproportionately affect any group they are merged with.

I do find a few fundamental universal truths in this thread. One of them is this:
There is lots of death, war and murder in this world right now and its primary source is exactly racism [or nationalism]. If people are killing eachother over these things all over the world for 1000s of years we should not be suprised that they will come out while playing video games.
We might hold a more idealistic idea ourselves, but the reality is not what we hope for. BB is neither going to create world peace nor cure cancer.

We have to consider the possibility that merging countries into multi-national leagues is not the solution to perceived competitive unevenness across countries.

However, consider this: it is already true that for the most part, teams are themselves multi-national. So few teams are “home grown” that threads develop in the forums about them. This gives rise to another possible mechanism to address the perceived competitive unevenness across countries; retain countries and flags only for teams, not leagues. LET EVERY TEAM RETAIN ITS NATIONAL IDENTITY. Let leagues have no national identity at all. Teams from all over can play in leagues not identified as the league of a particular country, but rather by a number or some other non-geographic and non-political label (Eg., Dr. J World, Big O World, Big Dipper World, etc.), AND EVERY WORLD COULD HAVE FULL DIVISION I, II AND III AT LEAST.

Those customers who feel nationalistic could continue to prove their team from their home nation is capable of beating teams from elsewhere. Those customers who value the game more than nationalism are similarly accommodated. Debates can ensue as to whether World 10 is stronger than World 13.

National teams could still exist for any country interested in a national team and the B3 COMPETITION COULD CONTINUE. The perceived inequitable advantage micro-nations have in their finances versus large nations would be gone, so the competition might be FAIRER than now.

Of course, this entire thread could be moot. Just as Utopia was apparently decided upon first, and second there was “discussion” of something already decided, a course of action might have already been chosen. I hope this is not the case, and this thread has meaning.

I am completely opposed to integration.
I prefer the current style.
If the merger happens I will certainly do my country, I will not play.

Just my opinion, in short.

Merging Leagues would be OK, but merging nations is no't so good for me.

Users will lost their NT-s, U21, their identity, their country.

But making 2-3 micro-nations play in a new league should be OK, and more competitive.

What is exactly a micro-nation, a nation belong how many users?
For me a micro-nation is not a nation they have lets say a full active 1st league.

This is where we hold them!

I get along with this , the leagues can be merge due to better competition, but the countries should stay as they are.
But if you merge Albania and Macedonia (as it is speculated), that would be suicide for you. Maybe you should make some official survey in which the users can select wich country they can merge with.

By reading most of this thread so far... I guess a simple option would be just keep countries the way are, simply change the system in such a way that each and every team in the game is part of a system which has at least one first league, and 4 full second leagues. This way, competitiveness is higher and also tanking gets a little less easy for countries with less than 20 users.
